This hotel is located on a farm in Steig, 3.1 mi from Dyrhólaey Cliffs. It offers a TV lounge, plus traditional Icelandic food in the restaurant. Hótel Búrfell rooms are decorated in light tones. My daughter and I had an excellent stay at this guest house. It was the perfect location after a busy day of hiking etc. It is very close to Vik. The room was very nice and extremely quiet. Good beds and a good shower! The breakfast was also quite good with a large selection. I especially appreciated the fresh fruit. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for something near Vik.

Great property, friendly staff and Johann is wonderful and very knowledgeable about the Vik area - highly recommend staying here and booking excursions through the Mountain Excursion company.

I think someone needs to help you with these Iceland reviews - none of these places are what we could call "towns." They are usually a few houses, maybe a few farms. Vestri Petursey is just an area with some houses that are near to one of the main sights in the area. There are no services here, but you're close to Vik. If you're coming for the night from the Golden Circle, STOP in Selfoss or Hvalfoss to get supplies! There is grocery store in Vik, but the stores don't open until 10 or 11:00 am, and they usually close at 7:00 pm.
Gorgeous location, right near the beach and super close to Vik. The cabin was immaculate and the hosts were incredibly sweet and friendly. Can't recommend this place enough, wish we could have stayed longer!
Definitely one of our favorite places we stayed while in Iceland. The cabins were exceptional and the views couldn't be beat. The town of Vik was close by so there was access to restaurants open late. We met the owners' dog who stopped by our cabin as we were preparing to leave!
We stayed here for just one night in July. We were a group of 5, one room has 2 twin beds with a beautiful window view, the other room has a full size bed. One of us had to sleep on the living room's couch and I don't know if the couch could convert to sleep bed. This is a really cute, quiet and cozy cabin with WiFi. Very nice morning views. It is a hidden gem and we had no problems finding this place. Owner was very friendly and responsive. The only problem is that towels and linens have an additional cost. We brought our own sleeping bags. I would suggest that you to bring your groceries before you get to the place. There are no markets around, the nearest supermarkets/restaurants are like 17 minutes drive. Other than that the place was great too bad we only spent one night there. Recommended !
Don't expect much from the location/setting but the unit is definitely clean and well appointed. Did not know it was on a farm or that it was 'remote'. Mountains to the side, wish the units faced the mountain view! For a quick night, it was just what we needed. We were amazed at the craftsmanship of the unit--No one other than a handyman or builder would appreciate the clean lines and square corners! Wish the building was situated a further distance from the other two units. Linen available for additional cost.
We loved this cabin! Super cozy and nice to be in a place to ourselves. It was about a 15 - 20 min ride into Vik, but closer to the sites: the Black sand beaches, etc. It it hadn't been cloudy both nights, it would have been a great place to watch the Northern Lights, too!
