What an amazing town. Time stands still, the typical wooden homes of the Walser people and the narrow alleys are awesome. No shopping though! and very few restaurants. Ours at the hotel is BY FAR the best
The town itself is clean and organised, but rather boring. Not very much happening, and because the skiing is not for beginners, it had no atmosphere. On the positive side, once up in the mountains, the facilities available, and the ski runs were fantastic. There are a few restaurants in the village, but no real supermarket if you wanted to prepare meals in your apartment.
Cozy town with ample choice of restaurants and rather few bars and after-ski venues. This is good for families and other people who appreciate to sleep at night. Wonderful views over the valley. Friendly people and not very crowded. Easy access to the Monte Rosa ski area via the local ski lift.
The village is beautiful, is quite expensive, but the real problem that I found that everything was closed, they just opened during the weekend, is a really beautiful place. We went for ski, we took classes with instructor, and I can say with my lack of experience in this sport that the sector for beginners is only one and is too small, the ski academy name is Alagna Monterosa, Stefano is very helpful and taking care of you and your family
Lots of walking and hiking during the summer. Many restaurants and a few supply shops. Would advise to get groceries before getting to Alagna Valsesia as it is very expensive for basics. Shops expect small change and not notes. English is not widely spoke .
Great for a family break. Excellent value for money. High altitude, consequently snow sure, and very good on-piste skiing make it an attractive late season destination. Did not try the off-piste, so cannot comment there. No night life but some decent restaurants in town. The loos in many of the mountain restaurants are from the dark ages! Thinking of creating a loo glossary!
