Located in Caltagirone, 24 miles from Gela, Palazzo dei Vespri has a shared lounge and free WiFi. Private parking is available on site. It was confortable and a winderful place! The owner were very nice and helped us with tips and parking. Take care if you come by car, as the streets are very narrow. You can make it to the hotel only with a very small car.
Surrounded by its private vineyards among the Nanfro Hills, Antica Tenuta del Nanfro offers refined, rustic-style rooms with a patio. Probably the best part of our Sicilian holiday. The property is located in a small valley with beautiful surroundings, on it's own vineyard. The pool was exceptionally clean and we saw it being cleaned every morning. The rooms were spacious with the best bed we've had in a hotel in a very long time. The food was also amazing - with amazing service. Overall we felt this was a lovely personal experience.
Offering stylish gazebos with sofas and a well-kept garden, Riserva Del Noce has a countryside position 4.3 mi from the center of Caltagirone. The tasteful design and decor of the room, the comfortable bed and linens and the lovely natural surroundings make this place a very good choice to explore piazza armerina , caltagirone and the region. Carmelo’s warm welcome and excellent cooking made it a memorable stay.
Set in the heart of Caltagirone, Casa Alba B&B Siciliano offers modern air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi and views of the town. Although it's only a B&B, Casa Alba is fitted to a very high standard. The room and particularly the bathroom were befiting of a 5* Hotel. The hosts were very friendly and helpful but we needed to use a deal of Google translate as their English was little better than our Italian. They provided a terrific breakfast spread and gave us a big map marked with recommended walking in the town.
B&B Charme Il Dito E La Luna is set along the historical staircase of Santa Maria del Monte in Caltagirone, a UNESCO-protected site. Absolutely amazing. Location is perfect. Hosts are amazingly helpful, respectful and polite. Even with a slight language barrier (we don’t speak much Italian unfortunately), they were all super gracious. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience in Caltagirone!
We loved Caltagirone. It was the perfect place to stay for our visits to Villa Romana del Casale and the historic center of Caltagirone. The highlight of our stay was the Villa Jacona, and our B&B host, Roberta. She could not have been lovelier. She gave us tips on everything, from where to eat, what time to visit the sites, and even where to park. Stay at Villa Jacona if you can!
Obviously the main attraction is the main staircase with its beautiful mosaic steps is beautiful. We liked popping in and out of the quaint churches. It is easy to get around Caltagirone and everyone is friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the Restaurant that had been recommended to us was closed.
A hidden gem. Lots to see and do, particularly if you love ceramics. Coria restaurant was a real find with delicious local ingredients and fantastic wine. But most of all, the people we met, even in passing, were so friendly and welcoming.
Interesting hilltop town. Not too many tourists and just enough to keep us occupied for 2 nights, albeit that lots if churches were closed and only open for services. Browsing the local pottery in the shops was fun.
All sightseeing spots were close together. Like many Sicilian towns, it would be great for this city to get a facelift. Cleanliness of the streets is not great (dog poo, rubbish bins overflow). There is some good fine dining - ask your host. One of the highlights of our entire Sicily trip was the visit of Villa del Castale with its numerous, very well preserved Roman mosaics. They are unique. Villa del Casale is about 40 km away from Caltagirone by car.
I had read in a travel book that one missed a lot when they didn't venture into the interior of Sicily. So, as not to fall into that group, we decided to visit Caltagirone. If you're going to Sicily be sure this on your itinerary.I wish we had, had more time to explore. Caltagirone is known for it's ceramics and this was evident everywhere. The colors, patterns and styles were beyond belief. We climbed 142 stairs up to one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. Unfortunately I can't find where I wrote down the name of it! The entire face of each step is covered in tiles, each step has a different pattern. We were told that the way to go up to these steps was, "one two, three, shop, one, two, three, shop". While there aren't nearly that many shops, if you can't find the ceramics you're looking for, you're being too picky! As is true in the southern reaches of Italy, you will hear English less and less, Caltagirone is no exception.. And yet, you will be able to communicate with the people.
The property is hidden in the rural hills north of Caltagirone. The traditional sicilian Villa makes a perfect spot to relax in quiteness and enjoy nature. The pool is perfect to cool down and is quite big. Our room was very spacious and super clean. The staff was great and very lovable. They helped in every way to have a enjoyable time. Included in our fair one night fee was a varied breakfast with homemade jam and joghurt. There are parking spots onsite for free.
We were met at the apartment by Alessia who showed us where to park and then very efficiently showed us the apartment. It is very neat and well laid out with everything we needed for our stay. The location is ideal for exploring Caltagirone and we had a wonderful stay. The bottle of wine was a nice touch and helped us feel at home. A good quiet night and we would stay again.
Breakfast was amazing, and if they ask you whether you want to have dinner on the terrace too, say yes! One of the most delicious dinners we had in all of Sicily, all traditional Sicilian foods, served with enthusiasm and pride, and the view was incredible. A lovely, tasty, relaxing evening. The room itself was spacious and comfortable.
It was by far the cleanest B&B/hotel we have stayed in.It absolutely endorses their maxim “arrive as a guest and stay as a friend”. The breakfast was delivered with care and celebrates the hosts Sicilian heritage. The exterior is an unassuming building but turned out to be a pleasure once inside.
The tasteful design and decor of the room, the comfortable bed and linens and the lovely natural surroundings make this place a very good choice to explore piazza armerina , caltagirone and the region. Carmelo’s warm welcome and excellent cooking made it a memorable stay.
Great location in Caltagirone old town heard, two steps from famous Caltagirone stairs. Charming house, lovely and large room with balcony on a garden, large bathroom. A enjoying sicilian time. Breakfast at the trendy cafe on a wonderful mise à.
We had a balcony in the toilette. How better can you get? The shower was very nice and with a mirror! :) bed was big and comfortable. The hotel is next to a parking place down a road and walking distance to the center. We liked our stay very much
Beautiful location in the old centre of Caltagirone Very nice wel equipped appartment Friendly host Never had such a breakfast, really everything, fresh fruit, bread, cheeses, yogherts, juices fresh coffee ect, a really nice Sicilian breakfast
Very nice accommodations—looked to be recently renovated. Great location—close to la Scalinata di Santa Maria del Monte, restaurants, and ceramic stores. Good value for the property. Will definitely stay here again when we visit Caltagirone.
Every single thing was perfect! If you are stationed at Sigonella - even though you can see Caltagirone in a day trip - stay here overnight. It makes all the difference to experience things here!! Amazing!!!
Great location in the heart of Caltagirone. Spacious and modern apartment. Stefano, the host, is very nice and provided superb recommendations on dining and shopping.
This B&B is a perfect spot in Caltagirone. The family was on top of everything. Delicious breakfast and couldn’t have been friendlier and more helpful!
