What a great little gem of a town, small, and yes, tourists, but plenty to see and do within walking, and more places to explore by car or local bus. Mix of free and private beaches, go to the east side where there are no breakwater rocks. --we chose to pay for umbrella and chairs at Bagno Vela and returned again the next day. Got affordable, fresh, good food at the attached restaurant for a pleasant al fresco lunch. There are places to ride a bike (a dedicated path heads south along the pine tree coast) and lots of rentals available, our hotel offered them for free. . Safe, easy to get around, and with the castle and medieval town on the hillside over the center, a real delight to explore especially toward sunset. We stayed 2 nights, another day at the beach would have been great. Having seen some of the other beaches further down the coast, Castiglione Della Pescaia was a great pick for pleasant waves, clean water, and light sand. It is likely busy during the weekend even in September--we arrived on a Sunday afternoon, but by Monday the beaches had thinned out nicely while still having a fun resort feel. Friendly and welcoming people abound. Osteria Del Mare for an unforgettable seafood dinner.
We had a great week staying close to Castiglione. Although our property was about 10 minutes drive away from the town centre, we spend most evening there enjoying vibe (and the gelato). The town has all the amenities that you would need, and plenty of restaurants and bars to keep you occupied in the evenings. During the day, we spent most of our time on the beach at nearby Rocchette, which was excellent.
A nice small coastal town with the old town on the hill and with a "castle" with two towers on top of it all. There is a nice view from the top but the towers are in private ownership so you can not enter the "castle".
Castiglione della Pescaia is a very pretty and historic town on the coast. Lovely old town but be prepared to walk uphill to get the best views. Close to other attractions. Wide selection of restaurants and good beaches
I would recommend everyone to stroll around this small city. It’s so much to discover if you really looking for it. Don’t get to comfy on the “Main Street”. There is a lot of small streets and nice resataurant hidden if you take the way more “up” to the forte. Also super easy to take buses to Firenze, Siena etc. It’s nice beaches and a lot of gelato!
I was pleasantly surprised by this resort which had a nice feel about, a mix of ages with a good beach and promenade areas, a small version of UK's Eastbourne! There is a pleasant but steep walk up the hill to the old town, the only disappointment is that when getting there you cannot visit the "castle" which is privately owned, the small harbour area is worth a stroll to. The surrounding area is also very pleasant and is non-commercialised
Castiglione della Pescaia
Brand new structure with modern and comfortable rooms, very nice walk-in shower, excellent breakfast with homemade joghurt and cakes. Stayed in for dinner one evening: excellent food, all homemade too. Location perfect for visiting places in the Maremma and going to the beaches of Castiglione della Pescaia. Mara, his mother and the whole family are lovely hosts: we felt like at home - thanks for everything! Highly recommended for couples and families. A plus: the attention to anticovid measures.
The staff were absolutely amazing and could not have been more helpful - from helping with luggage when our car first pulled up, to a welcome drink at check in, to the pool team helping with sun loungers, towels and drinks to the very attentive restaurant teams at both restaurants and the cleaning team for keeping the rooms and hotel immaculate. Really perfectly done.
Breakfast was best I have had in Italy so far. We asked to fill our drink bottles and the lady put them in the washer first! Shower was multi purpose, turned into a sauna. Really beautiful hotel and the 2 staff we met were exceptional, in the restaurant and reception. Would love to go back there as the town was also so beautiful.
Castiglione della Pescaia
Very clean hotel, room was spacey and had all needed. The hotel price includes a number of services relative to the beach, which is not to be overlooked. The reception staff were very nice and friendly, breakfast was ample, private beach awesome, and so was the bar next to the beach. We loved our stay here!
Castiglione della Pescaia
Breakfast was very good, a wide choice of food and all cakes were home-made! The location is very quiet, and only a short drive away from Castiglione della Pescaia: you could easily get there by bike to avoid wasting time trying to find a parking space for the car.
Castiglione della Pescaia
Nice apartment with two big and one small bedroom, living room and kitchen. Very nice shaded terrace with ocean view to have breakfast/dinner. 5 minute walk to the beach or the the historical castle/town center. Very friendly and helpful hosts.
This hotel was beautifully restored with lots of open space for relaxing. It was perfectly placed on the edge of the village with numerous restaurants in walking distance. It also has its own that was very nice and catered for gluten free.
Castiglione della Pescaia
The location is incredible, it’s right next to the beach and the showers were very decent. The other people staying there were all very respectful and it was a very peaceful environment.
Castiglione della Pescaia
Location was great, terrace had fabulous view and cool breeze, towels were clean, fluffy, and abundant, VERY convenient parking (which is usually difficult to find in a beach town).
Castiglione della Pescaia
The pool is fantastic! Spacious and clean, you never have the feeling is too crowded. The nearby beach is nice and the water is clean. Lots of green and shadow.
Castiglione della Pescaia
The camping is really close to the beach, you can choose between the private beach or the free one. We appreciated the silent during the night.
The hotel is located in front of the tiny port and the sea, in the center of the village, but along the road going through the village.
Nice family-run hotel, close to all the shops and restaurants. Helpful with restaurant recommendations and reservations. Great value.
Very nice resort. Excellent Breakfast. Besutiful pool. Nice bar by the beach
Very friendly staff, good location near to the beach. Excellent breakfast.
Central location. Handy for free beach. Easy parking.
Castiglione della Pescaia

Nice, clean place with kind personnel always willing to help. Very good food for decent prices at the restaurant. The swimming pool, playground, and especially the entertainment program were a delight for kids.
