The family-run Hotel Ristorante Italia welcomes you in a splendid farmhouse of the 17th century, just 2625 feet from the Certosa di Pavia monastery. The location is perfect. For us was a stopover n our 13 hours drive, but the people there made our short stay wonderful. The food is also great. And best, they are so relaxed when bringing the dog with us. really nice!
Set in a historical building and surrounded by a lush garden, Agriturismo Fiamberta offers accommodations with free WiFi and a restaurant in Certosa di Pavia. A continental breakfast is served daily. Great place to stay. Breakfast was absolutely amazing !!
Il Pettirosso is set in a peaceful area 0.6 mi from Certosa di Pavia monastery. Beautiful house, warm welcome, excellent welcome. The rooms are huge, very comfortable, beautifully furnished and have high ceilings. A peaceful place. Common space very well organized and the breakfast is delicious.
It is definitely worth stopping to see the Certosa, but this said it is a huge missed opportunity. One is rushed through as part of a guided tour in Italian. No photos are allowed inside. As a consequence they are getting a fraction of the international tourism which the architecture, art and sculpture merits.
Certosa was impressive as always, at the same time parts of it marked as open were closed. As a result no museum, no local apotheca/gift store, no info when those will open. And I may be mistaken but a year before visitor group under supervising was permitted to have a glimpse of cells in distance. I did not take part in it then, as it was possible to attend the Messe in Old church. Nothing of it now. Even information about upcoming Services.
A long desired stop. Wonderful church full of artistic treasures, Were given the privilege to visit one of the monk's cells. We had the opportunity to speak to an Eritrean monk who despite being within the Certosa for 10 years was very open minded and informed of major current affairs.
Beautiful, interesting Charterhouse is well worth a detour although the town of Certosa is dull and there is really nothing else there and the few restaurants were closed for summer holidays. Pavia itself, however, is a pleasant little town with a picturesque central square and bridge over river and offers more in the way of possibilities for eating, drinking and sitting out. However, BEWARE MOSQUITOES!

Excellent rural location close to Centosa di Pavia monastery.
