The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. As others have mentioned, the hotel is dated but it's clean, surprisingly quiet and comfortable. Something to mention: we chose this hotel because it was very close to a wedding reception hall. As we were heading out to the wedding, the owner asked us if we were going to a wedding and gave us a key to access the hotel in case we arrived after they closed. They were paying attention, which we really appreciated!!!

    Florence and Luca were the top day-destinations.

    Florence and Luca were the top day-destinations. the coastline is nice, the closer to la spezia the better (for snorkeling) the roads are good, but there is a clear difference between the tollroads and the none-tollroads. pizzaria Shalomi is a must, 700 meters walk from the house and their pizza is one of the best i ever had. public transport is there, but i cannot judge how good it is as we didn't use it. supermarket Lidl (has all you need) is a 15 minute drive. the conad in the village (5 minute drive) is very italian traditional, they don't have cola, crossaints for breakfast or nutella for example.
