Located in Contessa Entellina, Abbazia Santa Maria del Bosco has free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a shared lounge. The Abbazia was the highlight of our time in Sicily. The abbey is beautiful and the owners have done a great job of converting it into a B&B. Guido was our host and he was so gracious. Marcella and Guido cooked for us and we felt blessed.
Located in Bisacquino, L'Antico Casale provides accommodations with free WiFi and a garden with a terrace and garden views. We stayed only one day, but this is a very good place for a quiet "reset" during holidays. The room was very large and comfortable. Francesco was very kind to show us the agricultural farm. Muchas gracias, Francesco.
Located in Bisacquino, Casa Vacanze Prezioso provides barbecue facilities. The property has airport transportation, while a car rental service is also available. Upon first arriving in town, we were extremely lost using GPS to try to find the B&B (be aware: driving in Bisacquino is not for the faint of heart). We texted and called the owner, who tried to help over the phone and ended up driving out to find us and lead us back to the place. We were in Bisacquino to meet some extended family, and since our Italian is not great, the owner actually called for us to explain that we had arrived and where we were (it's a pretty small town, so he actually KNEW some of our extended family also). Since our schedule for the next day was very tentative, he allowed us to stay as long as we needed the next day for no extra charge. He was extremely gracious and accommodating - true Sicilian hospitality. Breakfast was served at a cafe a short walk nearby, which ended up also being owned by him. The coffee and pastries were wonderful.
Al Vecchio Cortile is located in Bisacquino and offers a shared lounge and a bar. This property has free WiFi. The gentleman identified me and showed the location, very pleasant guy. Very helpful, came back in the afternoon to check and ensure things were running smoothly,
We didn't actually visit the town of Contessa but our two day stay at the Abbazia di Santa Maria del Bosco was just perfect. From there we had the opportunity to visit the town of our ancestors, Bisacquino, which is nearby. We visited the interesting local museum there and the beautiful cemetery. We didn't enter the duomo but I later read that it contains Serpotta stuccos. We had an excellent lunch at da Nino's in Chiesa Sclafani.
