Last week, while traveling to Tuscany, my wife and I lost ourselves in the Castelnuovo di Garfagnana surroundings. It was getting dark, and we couldn't find a hotel or even a place to park our car. After getting a tip from a gentle lady nearby La Lanterna Hotel, I decided to book a room for us through Booking.com without even getting more information about the hotel. What a pleasant surprise we had when we finally managed to get to the place! Massimo, who manages the place and met us at the reception is probably one of the nicest guys we had the chance to meet during our time in Italy. Super friendly and extremely polite and attentive. To be 100% honest, all the hotel staff was so nice to us, and the hotel facilities were so great that my wife and I ended up regretting having planned our stay there for only one day. To Massimo and all the La Lanterna staff, our most sincere thanks! Castelnuovo di Garfagnana is the place of birth of my great-great-grandfather, and a lovely small Tuscan city recommended to all those travelers looking for peace, tranquility, and beautiful Italian landscapes. We left the La Lanterna Hotel hoping to return there as soon as possible! Thanks again, Massimo! A presto! 🇮🇹

Host was a very nice and helpful lady. The cottage is perfect and comfortable and warm. Very spacious, with a wonderful view. This is indeed a lost paradise. The drive up the mountain was a little difficult as we had to wind up the narrow roads right up to the top of the mountain to reach the cottage but the view was worth it. Very romantic and enchanting cottage. Breathtaking beautiful view. Paola is a very nice lady, she would go out of her way to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. Thank you so much for having us Paola. We enjoyed the enchanting stone cottage and your wonderful hospitality so much that we extended our stay at Casa Vacanza Le Muse.

Corfino is an amazing village in the wild green of the Garfagnana. It can feel a bit challenging to get there for the first time, if you are not used to narrow Italian serpentines and are driving late in the night, but otherwise the roads in the region are so beautiful and packed with cozy villages and various attractions. In summers there are concerts and festivals. If you drive from Corfino to the sea, the views from the roads are breathtaking.

The people are friendly and helpful, and the surrounding towns are also very beautiful. If you are going by car, it is worth stopping at the two parking lots below and driving around the area, because there are narrow streets, blind corners, and it is easy to get stuck.

Corfino is a charming, authentic village with narrow streets, situated on a hill with beautiful views. It's very quiet, so restaurants and terraces are limited. It's an ideal base for (experienced) hikers.

Corfino is a small village in the upper Garfagnana.

Corfino is a small village in the upper Garfagnana. It has a beautiful panoramic terrace and is located very close to the Orecchiella Park, a dream location. The surrounding area is beautiful (Lake Vicaglia, Campaiana, and Pania). We had superb meals at Il Fungo di Campaiana and Il Casone di Profecchia.
