Small town easily navigable on foot with 3x supermarkets, deli, fresh pasta shop, fishmongers, bakery, a weekly market and numerous impressive churches.
A bit rough around the edges with litter and several delapidated properties but some lovely walks and an excellent base for travelling to Lecce, Gallipoli, Leuca and the various beaches.
We didn't eat out but there are a few restaurants in the centre of town.
Worth a look within 30 minutes walk is the beach and grottes at Leuca, Gagliano centre and Giuliano de Lecce. Further afield, within 30 minutes drive Lecce, Galipoli, Leuca and Otranto are all worth a visit.
“The atmosphere in the hotel was very quite and the interior made us feel that we are in an old traditional Italian house ( no TV, bad wifi signal, no safe deposit: the feeling that you are in a total relaxation far away from the civilisation). However, just 15 min walking you may find few nice restaurants and a plaza.
Great home-made breakfast
Host advised us a nice restaurant and even reserved a table”
“We stayed for an amazing night at the villa but thinking back, we should have stayed much longer. The hosts, Giulio and Paola are wonderfull people and have done everything to make our stay fantastic. About the villa and rooms, it was classic and authentic and you will really feel the "Italy" experience. The rooms were quite and not like standard hotel rooms. The view that reaches over the ocean is just beautiful. Breakfast was really fresh and good! Thanks for everything, Giulio and Paola!”
“Very good place for a short stay at the end of the road between Otranto and Leuca. The room was fine if you're not looking for a 5 star hotel. But the thing about this place is the view. Breathtaking.
Fantastic host, kind. He doesn't speak anything else than Italian yet he understands and makes himself understandable. An amazing example of Italian hospitality.”
