Great location, easy to get in and out of the magnificent old antique town. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The hotel is well maintained. The beds were very firm and the sheets with towels are clean and smell good . The food was good and we had discount if take dinner every evening . I, especially, enjoyed the view of the sunrise and magnificent view of the lake Garda.

Small town surrounded by the mountains.
Small town surrounded by the mountains. It is perfect for bikers. Long rides including perfect uphills and mountains as well. The lake is just perfect for sailing, swimming, boating, windsurfing. Hiking is also a great possibility. Garda lake has a lot to offer. The water is colder on the norther side and warmer on the souther part.

We did not really explore Gargnano at all.
We did not really explore Gargnano at all. All we did in this town outside our apartment was going to a nearby bar/restaurant for a quick coffee in the morning.
It would be unfair for us to judge Gargnano based on our experience.

We stayed in Lago di Garda for a week (one day at a hotel,...
We stayed in Lago di Garda for a week (one day at a hotel, the rest at a friend's villa), and perhaps this review is somewhat negative because we were just coming from a 2-week vacation in Croatia, but Lago di Garda is a bit over-rated.
Based on the unreliable local transportation system, one quickly gets the impression that people (middle-income or lower) without a car are not welcome.
The scenery of this huge lake surrounded by mountains is very impressive and beautiful, however we were very turned off by the fact that there are snakes in the lake! To be fair, on the very populated beaches, there were none to be seen but as soon as you find yourself a less-populated area, you would see snakes swimming around. What we also did not like is that access to the lake is often obstructed due to the way construction was allowed to take place.
From a budget perspective, the choice of restaurants is geared more towards the higher-end, which reflects the kind of people you see vacationing here. What I found annoying were the opening/closing times of shops and restaurants. Expect to have difficulty in finding a place to eat in case you want dinner before 7pm and watch out for automatic service charges.
Based on observation, most locals are rather old and most foreigners are either German tourists or Germans who have bought property here.
My impression was that this is the perfect location for people of a certain age wanting peace and quite in a sunny destination or couples wanting a secluded getaway.
My brief rating would be "beautiful but boring"

Its a place where you just walk around looking at the lovely structures of the houses, the little delicatessen , the small but very modern and classy clothes shops , stop for lunch by the small port and just take in the atmosphere. Tip though, always book a restaurant for dinner on Sundays.

An overcrowded and a bit overhyped place.
An overcrowded and a bit overhyped place. The traffic is a horror show and you will be glad leaving the place in one piece.
In our opinion there are other places with simular views that are better, like Istria, Croatia. (East coast)

The property was beautifully maintained and our apartment...
The property was beautifully maintained and our apartment had great shared space. Swimming pool was great to laze in whilst enjoying the view of the mountain in the background. Lovely touch on the complimentary prosecco! The receptionist and owner were very helpful and quick to respond to our requests and queries. Location is a quieter side of Lake Garda catered towards family and older folks compared to other parts.
Only negative part is the apartment itself did not have bin liners for all the bins and washing detergent & sponge for the kitchen. Additionally the cleaning could be improved (E.g. floors were generally slippery, curtains needs some washing, one of the bed linen had what looked like dust and garden cuttings on it which we didn't uncover until the last night since it was at the end of the bed and underneath the blankets)
Stayed as part of our Honeymoon road trip. Everything was perfect, room was amazing and very comfortable, staff were brilliant, 5 star service at all times, lots of different outdoor pools, spa was fantastic and some really interesting facilities, we paid for extra massages and spa. The views are the best in Lake Garda and better than Como in our opinion. Breakfast was fantastic. Very special place for a special occasion.
The hosts were very accommodating and picked me up from the bus stop when I was having issues with transportation. The apartment itself is very spacious and has a great view. There's also a washing machine available which was a big perk. If you're looking for a quaint, quiet village, Formaga is perfect for you. We enjoyed the peace and quiet as well as the opportunity to easily walk/hike to nearby villages.

We had a great two day stay. It is quiet - and with great view of lake. Breakfast is super and so is their dinner where you can sit outside and enjoy the view. Food was great - with the hotels own produced olive oil from trees in front out to lake. The best hotel we stayed on this trip (with 8 hotels)
Absolutely spectacular view of Lake Garda! Each room had a balcony overlooking the back of the property and the lake. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. Excellent dinner with drinks overlooking the lake. Away from the busier parts of Lake Garda which made it seem very quiet and secluded.
We loved this Hotel. It's a real gem. The Hotel itself is beautifully maintained, the views are to die for and the restaurant and wine selection are excellent. We have two dogs and they were welcomed with open arms. The hotel even has a special area where the dogs can run free. Our dogs loved it.
We liked EVERYTHING: from the location through the service until the food and the private beach! One of the best hotel in Italy I have ever stayed. It is an excellent location for bikers with addition service for the bike (locker, electric charger, pump etc.)
The Corte Alma Spa and Luxury Home is stunning and relaxing. Room was very luxurious and spacious and a pillow and bowls were set up for my dog. Hostess Petra was so very attentive, kind and generous. A comfortable 20 minute walk from centre of Gargnano.
Location is super nice, overlooking the lake Garda, spacious and clean room, nice patio, parking place on site, great breakfast. The owner Marika and her family are super nice hosts, I wish all my travel experiences could be that pleasant.
Loved everything! 😊 We were very welcomed and also our dog. Spectacular wiew! It is a special and fantastic place!
Tasty wine from the house and olive oil made from the trees around.
Restaurant near the hotel.
The view from the room is amazing! The staff was very friendly. The room and hotel were very clean. The room size is perfect for coulple. Breakfast was excellent. I recommend :)
Breakfast was good. Location was good except for finding it ! Very little signage from the main road. Drove past the only access road to the hotel several times.
