Chic Venetian Beach Resort
Spanning 11 kilometres between the Adriatic Sea and one of the most famous lagoons in the world, Lido is a narrow and long island located just in front of Venice’s Old Town. Beach resorts, hotels and private villas replaced the vegetable gardens 160 years ago that provided tranquil settings for poets and writers like Lord Byron and Thomas Mann.
Probably one of the first beach resorts in the world, its first facility opened in 1857 and soon became a success. Nowadays, it constitutes a peaceful suburb that claims its golden past once a year during the Film Festival, and offers a quieter setting for your accommodation than central Venice.
There are actually three different villages on the island. Lido itself is located in the north, and includes most of the hotels and the Venice Casino. The smaller Malamocco and Alberoni are situated to the centre and south respectively. The sea-facing side of Lido Island is a succession of sandy beaches, mostly belonging to different resorts and hotels.
Gran Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta is the island’s main street, leading from the ‘vaporetto’ water bus pier to the sea. There are buses running on the island, while direct waterbus links to Venice Marco Polo Airport are also available.

Staying in the Lido was great if you like to get away from the touristy hot spots. The Lido was quieter and you have access to beaches for a swim to cool down. Lido is a beautiful island that makes up part of Venice, but is not part of the main busy island. You can take numerous vaporetto lines (with beautiful views!) to get to the island, and once you arrive, it feels like a different world. On one side, you have the bay with views of the the main island and can see all of the boats coming in and out, and on the other side, you have sandy beaches! The island is peaceful, but still with tons of restaurants, bars, and activities! Its a quieter and slightly cheaper place to stay. The bars and restaurants are nice. Pizzas are from €8 good place for families visiting venice. We got a ferry to the airport from the Lido which takes 1 hour and costs €19 each. Easy to buy tickets at the port very helpful staff and ferries tend to run on time. Take a water bus from the Airport, it’s takes roughly an hour, the hotel is a 10 min walk in a tranquil road. Everything is to hand shops restaurants and the beach. Pop into Venice city and surrounding islands, or take a bus up and down the Lido. The Hotel is exceptionally clean, bedding cool cotton, AC is great, having a lift is useful after a day sightseeing,breakfast varied and plentiful, with good coffee. It is close to the main street which is full of restaurants and Gelaterias. It is close to Lido Beach. At the same time, it is located on a quiet and green street.
