We mainly selected the hotel for its location, price and spacious room. Location - The hotel allowed relaxing atmosphere away from crowd of Venice. You can use your Venice Day pass for bus in Lido, so reaching hotel is not an issue but we preferred walking. The hotel is also close to the beach (private but open to public as it had not officially opened), so after checkout, we left luggage at hotel and spent a few hours at beach. Staff - Hotel staff was very polite, helpful and also made reservation to one of the best restaurant in the area (Ristorante gera ora) for our birthday night. Room - We booked premium double room with balcony which was very clean and spacious. The balcony was also nice with a small view of ocean. Daily housekeeping did a good job every day. We didnt had to make a single request for new towel or any toiletteries.

FAQs about hotels in Venice-Lido

Chic Venetian Beach Resort

Spanning 11 kilometres between the Adriatic Sea and one of the most famous lagoons in the world, Lido is a narrow and long island located just in front of Venice’s Old Town. Beach resorts, hotels and private villas replaced the vegetable gardens 160 years ago that provided tranquil settings for poets and writers like Lord Byron and Thomas Mann.

Probably one of the first beach resorts in the world, its first facility opened in 1857 and soon became a success. Nowadays, it constitutes a peaceful suburb that claims its golden past once a year during the Film Festival, and offers a quieter setting for your accommodation than central Venice.

There are actually three different villages on the island. Lido itself is located in the north, and includes most of the hotels and the Venice Casino. The smaller Malamocco and Alberoni are situated to the centre and south respectively. The sea-facing side of Lido Island is a succession of sandy beaches, mostly belonging to different resorts and hotels.

Gran Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta is the island’s main street, leading from the ‘vaporetto’ water bus pier to the sea. There are buses running on the island, while direct waterbus links to Venice Marco Polo Airport are also available.

Staying in the Lido was great if you like to get away from the touristy hot spots. The Lido was quieter and you have access to beaches for a swim to cool down. Lots of atmosphere in the bars and restaurants. Food was really good too. Plenty of boats top and from Venice itself.

Lido is a beautiful island that makes up part of Venice, but is not part of the main busy island. You can take numerous vaporetto lines (with beautiful views!) to get to the island, and once you arrive, it feels like a different world. On one side, you have the bay with views of the the main island and can see all of the boats coming in and out, and on the other side, you have sandy beaches! The island is peaceful, but still with tons of restaurants, bars, and activities! There are buses that run along the island, but it is also easily walkable to get to where you need to go.

Venice-Lido is such a quiet contrast to Venice.

Venice-Lido is such a quiet contrast to Venice. It is very easy to travel to and from the city each day or make it a 'two centre break'. Pleasant to walk around with good shops and restaurants. There is also a beach if that is what you are looking for.

A lovely Hotel in a perfect position on the Lido. Take a water bus from the Airport, it’s takes roughly an hour, the hotel is a 10 min walk in a tranquil road. Everything is to hand shops restaurants and the beach. Pop into Venice city and surrounding islands, or take a bus up and down the Lido. The Hotel is exceptionally clean, bedding cool cotton, AC is great, having a lift is useful after a day sightseeing, breakfast varied and plentiful, with good coffee. We have just returned from our 3rd visit to the Rigel, very happy.

A warm welcome when I arrived. The lady at reception was very helpful with local information on transport and restaurants. Plenty of choice for breakfast. My room had a sea view. Easy access to the beach and sea front. Calm sea front location (out of season). Ideal for a stay away from the crowds of Venice with easy access by regular vaporetto services to La Serenissima. Short bus ride to Lido centre & vaporetto station for more restaurants and bars. A hotel address worth keeping for my next trip to Venice.

Was 10-15 minutes walk to the jetty for various ferries to Venice and surrounding islands, and the car ferry departure area was a few minutes away which was convenient. It was across the road from the beach but the weather was not suitable for swimming when we were there (late September). Room was clean and had adequate space for 3 people and the hotel upgraded us to a better suite which was good.

Elegant and comfortable apartment right next to Hotel Excelsior with access to its beautiful sandy private beach, which is ideal for children. The apartment had everything you need for self-catering for a family of four, and the little private terrace in front with sun awning was great for relaxing.
