Luino had some nice parts to it, but was not the most...
Luino had some nice parts to it, but was not the most picturesque of the towns along Lake Maggiore, and there were not many tourists. It was a good base to catch the ferry( which we did most days) to different locations along the lakes. We particularly enjoyed going to Cannero (15 mins on the ferry) and had some fabulous walks on the other side of the lake. Nice and cozy town with everything you need for a shorter relaxing vacation. Good ferry, train, and bus connections - we travelled by train and it worked great. The Wednesday market is large and exciting and highly recommended. However, we would have liked to see even more local products presented by their producers. Unfortunately, there wasn't much of that. Except for Wednesdays, not overrun by tourists, but very "everyday" despite its location. Luino is a charming town on Lake Maggiore. It’s very close to the Swiss border and Lugano—so prices are more affordable. (: Wednesday Market in Luino is not to be missed.
