Many families visiting Matera loved staying at PIANELLE RESORT, Palazzo Zagarella - Scardicchio Maisons, and Quarry Resort.
PIANELLE RESORT, Palazzo Degli Abati, and Sant'Angelo Luxury Resort got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Matera.
I stayed in Matera for 3 days and it was the last point in my itinerary, which I was glad about. This is one of the places that left me breathless (and very few places have done that so far). So if you're looking for the visual "wow" this is it. It was also great getting lost in those little old town streets and just stopping in some places for a bite of something local. I suppose for history buffs it will be even more exciting - plenty of history there. Totally recommend both as a point on your list to check off and as a place to stay for a bit longer and chill.
The city is amazing. With each step, new perspectives on piled up houses and churches emerge. The location of the city is unique, and there are a lot of places to visit. One day is definitely not enough.
Hello. Matera was absolutely fascinating for us. We had no idea such place exists and we have to admit that it has very unique atmosphere and it is really nice place to visit. We could imagine we will stay one more day. Nice restaurants - it is better to make reservation for dinner. Really nice place to visit.
This is an absolutely incredible place. We have travelled pretty much all over Italy and this is one of our favourite places. The setting is surreal, there is so much to see and the food is fantastic, also for vegetarians. I would recommend spring as I can imagine it will get very hot in summer.
Location, location ,location, Magnificent, a must see. The old town is one of the cleanest and most beautiful in Italy, there are many attractions to visit. There are numerous first class restaurants in the area, the food was superb.
Matera is an exceptional ancient town. When you first see places like this, it literary holds your breath. Very clean, many options for spending your time there. Especially if you enjoy walking, although it takes some effort to climb up and down. Stunning views from every corner.
Perfectly positioned, well designed in elegant neutral shades, cool in the heat of summer (good air com but not always needed) location in the heart of Matera. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had almost everything except bowls! Lovely views from the balconies over Caveosa and a gorgeous little terrace to relax on. Local restaurants and cafés are a few steps away. Very efficient welcome process and prompt communication on info such as supermarkets. Spiral staircase to upper bedroom that wd be unsuitable for children under 8.
Exceptionally beautiful hotel which is perfectly located to explore Matera. The rooms are luxurious, incredibly comfortable and each have an individual character that perfectly reflects the charm of Matera. We found the staff so helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. We were a group of 18 colleagues visiting on a pre-Christmas trip and the team at Pianelle Resort made sure that our trip was everything we had hoped for. Each bathroom felt like a spa and the view from the rooftop terrace was spectacular. Thank you Pianelle Resort.
The room is spacious. All the rooms in the hotel come with external entry, which means that you don't need to bother the receptionist to open the door if you are enjoying the night view of Matera out late. The rooms are settled in the old caves of Sassi di Matera, which makes it a quite unique experience. The outside view just in front of our door is breathtaking. The breakfast is very Italian, with many different types of sweets and the special Apulian bread. We are highly satisfied with the stay.
We loved our stay immensely. Our room was absolutely beautiful (we were upgraded as I think there had been a cancellation) and the staff were absolutely lovely, and we felt at home immediately. The location is first class, and having a bubble bath in a cave like room was one of the highlights of our Italy trip so far. Breakfast the next day was exceptional also. Make sure you go down to the see the historic cisterns when you have finished with breakfast. We highly recommend when in Matera!
Matera
Great location. The hotel is antic outside, and modern inside. Specious room, nice shower, clean, use the code to access the gate and the room. Very helpful stuff. located in the heart of old town, but only few steps away from the new city where you can have fun at night. Highly recommend this hotel. used their paid parking which was very convenient. The parking is before you get to Matera. It’s closed parking. The hotel sent shuttle for us.
This hotel was true luxury in every way, from the incredible room and views, to the highly professional and attentive staff and outstanding restaurant. The views from our room and location were unbeatable, and undoubtedly the best in Matera. Much better than the pictures. Dinner at Regiacorte was a highlight - worth the price for the quality of food and service. We will remember our stay for many years to come.
Matera
Location is great. We took a bus to Matera. When you arrive, it is best you take a taxi to the sassi area as it is quite a distance from the only bus stop in Matera. The hotel is just a 3 minutes walk from the sassi. Our booking was with breakfast which we had at the cafe downstairs - you will get a breakfast voucher from the hotel. Room was nice and clean, bathroom was spacious.
Matera
The hotel is amazing…From the beautiful decor to comfortable rooms and everything at your disposal. Gianmarco was extremely accommodating with my last-minute booking and added a special touch by providing a history of the town and the best places to go that are not touristy. Every single recommendation was spot on. This is a top-notch place to stay in a very special town.
Matera
It is a great place to stay. Quiet and clean. We visited Matera early March and it was quite cold outside but insidr it was warm and comfortable. The check in was self check in and all was perfect. The bed was really great. There are some welcome staff which is nice. The brecfast was in a coffee bar near by and the croissant was the best I tried in Italy this time.
honestly this is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Certainly the best in Matera. the location is perfectly sits at the heart of the city center of matera, huge suite room, great spa facilities, amazing staff (like super helpful and friendly), great paid parking spot with taxi facility from/to the garage. the view is breathtaking, good breakfast.

The best stay in Italy. This recidence is 100% worth to stay at. The Recidence is located in the middle of Matera and matches all the boxes when you want to stay there. Very kind and helpful staff. Perfect location and a perfect room.
A wonderful hotel in every aspect. The service is impeccable. The view from the terrace is breathtaking. The room we had was clean, comfortable and modern but integrated into the historic cave structure. Highly recommended!
