This trip was only a week, but I have stayed here twice before for 3-4 weeks each time. I don't rent a car (but that is a good option). Instead, I use the local buses. The bus to Chuisi is frequent, and from Chuisi you can catch the train to Firenze, Rome, or elsewhere. There are lots of Etruscan museums in the area.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Montepulciano is a lovely old hilltop town.
Montepulciano is a lovely old hilltop town. It has wonderful views over the countryside (and to other towns) as well as excellent restaurants, shops, and local wine cellars (in caves under the town). The local wine is excellent! It is walkable with very little traffic allowed, but also has quite a hill within it, so be prepared to walk up and down hill if you visit! It also is a good place to stay and to travel to other picturesque towns nearby, such as Piensa (truly lovely) or Montalcino (also famous for its own wine). Being a hilltop town, the train does not stop right in Montepulciano. We stopped at nearby Chiusi-chianciano train station, where we could rent a car just across the street.Guest review byJohn

The location is close to the city and the area's attractions. The room is very clean, as is the bathroom, which is quite spacious. It was the best shower we had on our trip to Italy. The hotel is in the middle of the forest. It is very quiet, with only the birds singing. The view is beautiful and the pool area is very pretty. The hotel staff was very friendly and attentive. The views from the property are fantastic. It’s very close to Montepulciano but a bit of a hike to get to town, however Andreas and his Team will drop you off and come and pick you up anytime you ask. There’s a great onsite restaurant (I recommend you sit in the olive trees or under the cherry trees). Not like a typical hotel with a big lobby, etc., it instead is a boutique-style residency hotel with large comfortable rooms and a modern bathroom and shower.
