I found Oristano quiet during the day but came alive for restaurant and drinking during the evening. There were a few selective clothes shops. The main centre of town was busy over the lunch time and then quiet until evening. I was booked for 3 days and probably a day and a half would have been sufficient.
Oristano is a beautiful town with a lovely old quarter - great for a passegiata in the evenings. Shopping isn't really my thing but there were lots of different types of shops if you wanted them. Lots of bars, cafes and restaurants to suit all pockets. All the food we tried was excellent. It's also close to Tharros which is a must visit if you are at all interested in history/archaeology.
We visited in November and we found it to be bustling and lively. The museum of archaeology was a useful backdrop to our visit to Tharros and we were very impressed by the Duomo. The range of cafes and bars surprised us; we enjoyd aperitivo in Bar Italia and dessertson Barba Gelato - both good value. We unfortunately missed the chocolate festival (22-23 Nov 2019) and we got the impression that the town has a busy cultural calendar. It was also well situated for day trips to Sinis and San Cristiano nugharic site.
There is nothing particularly stunning nor exceptionally interesting about Oristano, no truly important monuments, no picturesque nooks, no amazing views, but wandering around the old town is a simple delight. In Trattoria Portixedda you can eat superb food at an almost ridiculously cheap price.
Oristano is a lovely tranquil but lively town, can’t be missed by great seafood and wines lovers. Either if you fancy a fine cheeseboard and a glass of wine, craft beers, fine patisserie or masterclass pizza here you will find it, and it’ll be made with local and selected ingredients. You only need to ask the hosts for the right places!
Oristano is a small town in the centre, west area of Sardegna. I thought it was much bigger but a day is sufficient to visit Oristano's main points of interest. I highly recommend a visit to the Cathedral's museum, especially for those interested in religious cultural heritage. It is close to Cabras were interesting ruins are found and worth a visit, together with crystal clear beaches.

Guiseppina was a wonderful , warm and welcoming host. The rooms had a very personal and individual interior with old antique furniture, comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom. We had free mineral water, some sweets and a coffee maker in the room. Guiseppina served breakfast with specialities from Sardegna and she was very happy to explain the food, she gave tips for interesting places to visit. In the evening we went into old town by foot and enjoyed dinner in one of many restaurants nearby. we loved it.
Oristano
Best of the best! The owners are very hospitality and friendly. One review mentioned the mattress was a bit hard, but for me who does not like the super soft mattress it is perfect (probably the best bed I can find in Sardinia). The rooms are full of thoughtful decorations and details. Breakfast was abundant and the owner helped me to get my lemonade. Although they cannot speak English, it does not prevent our fluent conversation with Google Translator. What a pleasant stay in Oristano. Grazie!
Oristano
This is a nearly perfect place! The bed is comfortable, the facilities are clean and quiet. The breakfast is good. The building is 5 or 6 hundred years old, with all the charm that involves. It is beautifully furnished. But the facilities are modern; the shower is wonderful. The rooms are spacious. Andrea, the host, is marvelous. He has wonderful people skills. Places like this make traveling evenbetter!

An immaculate three-bedroom house was perfect for couple and 2 singles travelling together. Our host Donatella could not be more friendly and accommodating, especially the fabulous breakfast - all home-made and/or from their own lovely garden. Located in a quiet suburban street with easy parking, a few minutes’ drive from the centre of Oristano.
Hotel staff was very friendly. Did their best to sort out and solve airco problems. Coffee in the morning was great, the rest of the breakfast kinda basic. One person doing reception and breakfast duty. Was still OK, but it is not the Hotel from before Covid.
