The Hotel Ristorante Villa Crespi is set in an impressive 19th-century building surrounded by private gardens which lead to a beautiful lake. Everything, definitely need to spend more time there. Is a dream palace, with beautiful people around serving you.
Located in the most popular square in the historic center of Orta San Giulio, Hotel Leon D'Oro features 2 sun terraces with views of Lake Orta and San Giulio Island. Lovely hotel next to excellent restaurant. Beautiful modern room and bathroom with large sunny terrace with sun lounger. Great swimming in the lake just across the road from the hôtel The best bit was the truly lovely staff who could not be more helpful. Especial thanks to Alberto who even offered to pick us up at midnight after a family wedding if we couldn't find a taxi. Really going beyond the call of duty xx
A beautiful town with lots of historic buildings. Lovely little cafe restaurants with reasonable prices. The boat trips around the Lake were excellent. Lots of special gourmet shops with good selections of wine, cheese, dry foods and cured meats. Would definitely recommend.
Beautiful, historic Italian town with plenty of history and culture. Amazing views and lots of nice restaurants. Sadly, The convenience stores and souvenir shops are extortionate. €3.50 for a packet of the cheapest, nastiest baby wipes ever :-( Not very family friendly if you have young kids. Cobbled streets and steeps hills/steps make it difficult to push a buggy around. Plus not much to do to entertain young children
A little jewell at the Italian lakes. It´s a quiet place, full of wonderfull views of the antique village, the lake and the mountains. The water of the lake is nice for bathing. There are some romantic walking paths. The "Sacro Monte" is a good place for meditation, so the "Isola". Food, specially ice creams are incredible !!!
Unspoilt town with great bars and restaurants. We enjoyed the motor boat ride out to the island and a delicious Spritz at Bar Picolo. It is a great wedding venue but we felt that there were too many wedding parties there! Brides everywhere (mostly being pursued by photographers and long suffering grooms).
We will return! It was magical and amazing... lots of great restaurants, shops and the lake... WOW. Don't miss this treasure while touring northern Italy. Venus Ristorante was a favorite, as they actually could make a real Cadillac Margarita! All of the food was unique and fabulous.

Location, Location, Location - is fabulous. Can't be beat. Hotel did excellent job of pre-notification of Orta's unique parking and hotel access issues. If you want to be on the peninsula and on the main square this is the place for you. Plus great little wine bar right next door (Pan e Vin) with delicious foods and fabulous wines by the glass. Staff mostly pleasant.

Location is fantastic, hostess was very welcoming and helpful, the bed is comfortable and the whole apartment is spacious and well appointed with everything for a good stay provided. Orta San Giulio is a magical little village with lots of good restaurants and interesting shops but without the tourist resort atmosphere of larger lakeside towns.

The view and location. Couldn't find a better location, right on main square of Piazza Motta. View of the lake and piazza is outstanding. Well presented apartment and the host (Stefano) was friendly, patient and helpful. Orta San Giulio is a lovely spot with great access to the lake via boats to other villages.

Lake Orta is a little jewel in the Italian Lake District and the Hotel San Rocco is the perfect place to experience this beautiful spot. The staff was exceptionally helpful (making two standout dinner recommendations). Having drinks with friends in the evening at a table by the lake was memorable.

Everything else. The breakfast was amazing- best hotel breakfast ever. The staff very friendly and helpful and the room was great. It was quiet and relaxing and we didn't mind walking the half hour or so into town. We did it several times a day and it was enjoyable.

The excellent, minimal but warm design and its location made me feel out of this world, cocooning in the perfect inspiring refuge is what I loved about my stay, a few days I had chosen to retreat in Orta San Giulio. The shower is basically a built in spa and a lavish, wonderful relaxing experience that made me feel the taste of a modern luxury experience in the midst of an ancient town. The room has all comfort including cable TV and it is walking distance from anything with wonderful views of the lake and town. The names of the rooms were humourous and researched, like « room of one’s own » (a Virginia Woolf tribute), « no logo », « monday or tuesday ». The breakfast is a banquet, delicious and fresh every morning. As I was there in Febraury, which is very low season, I was the only guest in the hotel and a kind lady was agreeing with me for breakfast time every morning and cleaning up my room pointly.

Orta is beautiful, the location of the apartment is on the doorstep of the square and close to restaurants, shops and bars. The view of the lake from the square is amazing. The apartment was perfect for a small group of us who visited Orta for a wedding. It was a good size, clean and had all the facilities we needed aka Iron and ironing board, cleaning products and somewhere to hang our clothes. The host (Alice) made sure we felt welcome and kept in contact via email if ever we had a query before and during our trip. She helped us organise our transport from Milan Malpensa airport there and back. We were very grateful and would definitely recommend!
