This is a quiet town not far from Siracusa but cooler, up in the mountains. It is known particularly for its baroque churches and is recognised by UNESCO as World Heritage. The five feasts are incredible, full of local tradition and fireworks. The town is very well known for its excellent restaurants. Palazzolo Acreide is a quaint village, a short drive away from La Mela di Venere. We visited on a Saturday evening and there was a lovely atmosphere in the main square with musicians playing classical music whilst people soak up the atmosphere eating/drinking or just walking around. You definitely need a car to move around to the nearby villages as we never saw any public transport. The owners and staff are very nice and welcoming and put great attention in every detail, that made our stay a real pleasure. You could just spend a full week enjoying the countryside, the food and the pool, but it's also great that it is so close to Palazzolo Acreide that is a little gem, and a very strategic location to visit Siracusa, Ragusa, Noto and the rest of the south east of Sicily.
