The long drive up the winding mountain road to Scillio is a paltry sum to pay for the treasure that awaits those willing to wander up. The beauty and authenticity of this small hill town is enough to make a grown man openly weep. The care that the residents of this small community have lavished on this meticulously maintained community of stone buildings is evident in every house, alleyway, doorway, garden, window, and terrace. The remarkable condition of the town as a whole allows one to focus on the beauty and elegance of the rustic details when you are not mesmerized by the breathtaking views. Grocery store and Coop in Pieve Fosciana are right at the bottom of the winding 10 min drive down the hill (watch out for grazing sheep!).
