The hotel was beautiful, very modern and clean. The bed was massive and so comfy! The best nights sleep we have had in ages. Mod cons in the room such as electric blinds with a button by your bedside, LED lights in the ceiling. The bath tub was also very big with a modern designed bathroom with glass doors. Fresh towels every day and bed made by maids. Staff were helpful, calling a taxi for us at 4am for us to go back to the airport. Shop around the corned from hotel.

With over two and a half thousand years of history and astonishing classical beauty, Rome truly deserves to be called the Eternal City. From the breath-taking Colosseum to the famous Trevi Fountain, Rome has something for every taste.
Enjoy a freshly brewed espresso on one of the Rome’s popular piazzas and admire the everlasting beauty of frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. Caravaggio’s paintings in Santa Maria del Popolo are a definite must-see.

Rome is beautiful place to explore to, it is rich in history and there is so much to do and learn of ancient history. The Vatican is located there therefore its the centre of christianity. However, english language barriers will make the holiday challenging as most Italians in my experience doesn’t speak english and because of it, they are not friendly to tourist ready to ask for directions. Most of them will give you a good poker face in order to avoid you asking or even answering your question. The road or cobble pavement also a challenge as it is uneven , have to keep an eye on your way if you do not want to fracture your ankles. Train stations not friendly with luggage - no ramps and lift to make life of tourist easy! Otherwise, would have been perfect experience!!
I loved everything about Rome - its rich, preserved, beloved, 2000+ year old history; the art; the streets; the vegan food; the Italians - what isn't there to love? We are vegans, so we ate at Rifugio Romano, Il Margutta, Buddy's, and Origano - all of which were truly exceptional. We also ate at non-vegan restaurants that had very good options. We did tours of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill; did a golf cart tour of the city and an exceptional tour of the Vatican with Chiara Antonelli - we would have done more tours with her but she was fully booked. Do yourself a favour and do at least one tour with her - she is amazing and hilarious!!! We walked a lot and found it very difficult to get taxis unless it was early in the morning. But Rome is extremely full of tourists right now, so it is understandable. I truly loved Rome and being in Rome.
Rome is a wonderful city, with a lot of interesting historical places, excellent cuisine and weather. True, local residents and staff in cafes and shops are spoiled by a large number of tourists and are not always friendly and ready to help
Rome is very historical. The restaurants are delish and the employees welcoming. Tour os colosseum is great and visit to Trevi fountain with dinner less than a block away were wonderful. Visit to Vatican was bad. The Vatican tours rush and push you through like herds of cattle going to slaughter for the museum and Sistine Chapel. However, St Peter Cathedral is large beautiful and the one are the allow you to take a little time to pray and wonder through the church to take it all in. I am a Roman Catholic and so disappointed in how the Vatican runs the tours. Disgraceful to charge so much and not have 1 solid minute to admire.
The city has so much to offer: museums, architecture, food, sites, history, etc: one week is simply not enough to visit the main attractions and have a true Roman experience. Although most people will gravitate towards the usual big name sites (Vatican, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, etc), many sites possibly perceived as secondary in importance provide, in fact, an equal or better quality visit, so do not be shy to visit lesser known sites. A well chosen accomodation location will allow you to walk practically everywhere! Advance booking (well in advance) of guided tours is essential to prevent disappointment and will often be the only way one gets to access the sites as lineups are uncharacteristically long in Rome. Also, not all restaurants are created equal: do your research and make reservations to avoid tourist trap eateries.
Beautiful city but best seen on foot as buses in short supply and traffic very heavy all day. Crossing roads anywhere needs total concentration as cars buses and especially bikes and scooters come flying at you from everywhere even when the green man says you can go! There is so much to see there as you walk around you can easily avoid entering museums and still feel you have seen so much. Give the Italian war museum a miss it is just full of Italian ensign flags and no information in English. Very boring and so much more outside! But there is a beautiful cafe roof terrace there with wonderful views across the city(free) the lift to go to the top is 16 euros. Plenty of restaurants bars and ice cream parlours everywhere and not all over the top in price. A must see city if you love history and good food!
