Hotel in Repubblica, Rome
Set in a 19th-century building, the Quirinale is 20 minutes' walk from the Coliseum. This historical hotel is connected to Rome Opera House through a passageway in its leafy courtyard.
I loved this hotel, whilst perhaps some things were outdated it only added to the charm of this quality property. I loved my large room, bed, window and bathroom. Service was old world charming, the garden was divine for breakfast and dinner and an afternoon drink. The breakfast was wonderful. I caught the fast Leonardo (something or other) train from the airport, 1st stop being Roma Station 700m from the hotel. The cobblestones will test your bag wheels so if the bag is around 25kg or so perhaps a cab is best. Trevi fountain is nearby and the Pantheon not much further, I attended an opera in a church 90 metres from the hotel, good shopping nearby in what appears to be a factory outlet area, supermarket 5 minute walk, and a pub and restaurants 5 minute walk. I ventured out about 6.30am for a walk and returned to the hotel one evening about 9pm and felt safe, there are lots of people around until about 10pm. I loved it and I am tad fussy so you should love it too.

With over two and a half thousand years of history and astonishing classical beauty, Rome truly deserves to be called the Eternal City. From the breath-taking Colosseum to the famous Trevi Fountain, Rome has something for every taste.
Enjoy a freshly brewed espresso on one of the Rome’s popular piazzas and admire the everlasting beauty of frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. Caravaggio’s paintings in Santa Maria del Popolo are a definite must-see.
Rome is also home to the Pantheon, built in 125 AD, the stunning St. Peter’s Basilica as well as another classic, the Roman Forum. Many of the world’s most famous churches, museums and galleries are just around the corner allowing you to have it all.

Rome has perhaps the most incredible sites in the entire world. I was blown away by the Vatican museum, the colleseum and the history of the Pantheon. Unfortunately they all come at a very high price point, having been forced into buying a guided tour for each one because general entry tickets on the official sites were never available. The food is of course amazing and the ambiance is chaotic and alive. The metro has been improved and the buses operate a substantive service. However I was disappointed to see so much rubbish on the streets, that the pavements were filled with pot holes and the vegetation was left to take over. The street lights appear to not be switched on so it was hazardous to walk after dark from 1900 without the light from our phones. Whatsmore the traffic is absolutely insane and cars don’t stop when pedestrians have the green man. It’s a city worth seeing once in your life but it is not for the faint of heart.
City of Rome is a place, that You have to visit. The atmosphere, Italian people, Italian food... This is something, that You should definitely try for Yourself! History of whole city takes Your breath away, just as all the ruins, buildings and many other places up there. I strongly recommend hiking through centre at night, as it gives whole different view and You can see many popular places without crowds. Watch out for people, mostly immigrants giving you "free gifts" and then demanding money from You. One such guy even tried to do this at 2am near Colosseo... Be careful around central station, as there are plenty of pickpockets.
Rome attractions are really beautiful and very different in other places you visit .The only thing I don’t like it the rubbish all over Rome .You are like in Asia. They don’t know how to maintain the cleanliness and it is very scary to walk around in Rome pickpockets are all around. When you catch public transport you will be told by people around you be careful. Some of them looks like tourists but they are the pickpocketers. They don’t have information who can help you when you want to ask something. Some of them are rude when you ask something because they can’t speak English. You will know the difference if you have been to Switzerland and your next holiday is Rome.
We enjoyed our visit to Rome, sightseeing, history, walking, food, everything was an amazing experience as a family. The climate was also wonderful during the month of June/July, hot during the day and the long days, lots of sun and light!
The Italian Government should be thankful the city has an abundance of historic buildings and features because without these why would anyone want to visit Rome. It is filthy, rubbish everywhere, Graffiti sprawled across most buildings, Dog urine everywhere even decaying historic buildings. Beggars and illegal (but still prevalent) street vendors continually hassling you. Haven't caught up with the rest of the world with smoking restrictions so: cigarette smoke continually being blown in you face even as you are trying to enjoy your meal, Cigarette butts everywhere , bottle, cans littering the streets and parks even at historic sites, disgusting. Traffic confusion and they do not give way to pedestrians. Continual sound pollution from drivers continually beeping their vehicle horns. No help for Tourists at most locations, the worst being the train stations where you can not get reliable help in your language., leaving you to continually confused. All this and they expect you to pay a City Tax to present all these inconveniences. Honestly I have experienced third world countries that are in better shape.. Message to the Italian Government " You need to do much better"
Rome is always fantastic with it's amazing history and architecture. So much to see and do in Rome, one of my favorite cities in the world. Easy to travel and find destinations. Great food in Rome but you must know where you are going so plan ahead if you can :).
