Travelers who stayed in Rome near Fiumicino Airport (FCO) have said good things about QC Termeroma Spa and Resort, Sleep'n go Hotel, and EH Rome Airport Euro House Hotels.
We stayed two nights for short respite before a flight to the US. The room was just fine, the bar was comfortable. We didn't eat breakfast because it was 10euros extra and the neighborhood is full of cafes. The accomodation is walking distance to the train station which was our intention and we did walk there, suitcases and all. Rome is great and the hotel was fine.
Rome is big, crowded and in danger of being its own worst enemy. Water quality was great and many water sources were available in the heavy duty tourist areas. Coliseum is jammed, we were "forced" into a tour to get inside. Every tour leader is "the best" and got in each others way to "their spots". Pantheon was pretty simple compared to the one in Paris. Forum is okay but the Palatine Hill was wonderful. The Vatican is impressive even for a "non-catholic". Much history here, some good, some ugly stuff happened here as well. 3 days in Rome was long enough.
To summarise, if you are travelling to Italy, then at some point Rome is a must go to place. We saw what we wanted to see in two days - walking everywhere. Three days is probably required if you are particularly interested in absorbing the historical detail and to take advantage of the guided tours as the latter can be quite time consuming. The Basilica is an absolute must see along with the coliseum. The Trevi Fountain was another great surprise in that it exceeded any photos I had seen. The Vatican and Vatican Museum is also a must see but I personally was left a little cold by the Sistine Chapel at the end of the route. Others will no doubt disagree. otherwise
Everyone likes different things, of course. For me, the deep, deep history as it is alive in Rome as you walk and everywhere you look is so amazing. I love that Rome allows tourists like myself to wander around these grounds, such as the Coliseum and the Palatine Hills, ancient Roman ruins, and some quite intact. I love the lit up nights and art is inspiring everywhere you look. You have to allow time to wander or you will miss amazing carvings and statues at the edge of a busy corner. Some tours are wonderful - tour guides at the Vatican and museums really are well-trained, often art historians and bring out the best. Getting around is simple. Mostly walking or taxis for me. Amazing how accommodating hotels and restaurants are to English speaking tourists. Do allow time to take a train to other beautiful parts of Italy as well. Easy and inexpensive. The only tour I found painfully bad was one labeled 'Virtual reality tour' of the Coliseum. I simply assumed it would be a tour brought partly with some interesting affects virtually, but it isn't a tour at all. You receive a large headset that is more like a video game to describe the outer and inner levels of the Coliseum. The women were sweet, but they the 'tour guides' leave you entirely on your own after the video headset 30 minutes. Perhaps I should have understood in advance, but there are far better tours. Who wants a video tour when you are standing outside of something like the Coliseum?
You need a minimum of 5 days in Rome, 6-7 days is good. May weather was great. Metro transport is fast and frequent and certainly not overcrowded, certainly not in May anyway. Coliseum was the highlight for me, just mavelling as the former might of the Roman Empire is awe inspiring. Free water nearly every where ! I don't know where it all comes from ! Italian ladies from the youngest to the oldest have so much style, they just know how to go out in the public domain and behave.. Going to visit Rome again, no question there.
we stay for 3 full days in Rome, we visited all major locations. From top 25 sightseeing locations from mine touristic guide we were visited 20. but, we walked a lot, I think this is the best way to know the city. using only a metro from apartment to city and vice versa. we divided rome into three parts: 1st day Vatican, 2nd day Piazza Navona, Panteon, Piazza del Popolo and other part of Central Rome 3rd day Coloseum, Foro Romano, Piazza Venezia etc.
The location is excellent but unlike many 5 star hotels the staff were fantastic - not at all pretentious or pompous but extremely helpful, polite and very down to earth. We are lucky to have experienced many 5 star hotels around the globe but this is one of the best with great facilities, lovely spa staff and an excellent location too! The bar has an extraordinary manager who spoke super English and was extremely hospitable! We regularly travel to Italy and we will definitely stay here again!
We stayed at the code hotel for 3 nights and honestly it was the best experience of a hotel I have ever had! The staff were so professional and helpful and so polite and friendly. The rooms were unbelievably clean and they were perfect, the shower was great! we made use of the beautiful spa which was so relaxing and the rooftop to watch the sunset of Italy. We never tried the restaurant as we decided to go into town for dinner each night but the restaurant looked very good.
Central Station, Rome
Roberto started us off incredibly. Check-in was smooth and easy. He gave us a map and circled all the important places to see and where to get great food. He stored our bags for us as we came early and our room wasn't ready yet. After our time exploring Rome, we always came back to made up beds and a freshly cleaned room. We could see Santa Maria Maggiore from the window. The wifi is probably the fastest connection we had in Italy. I would definitely stay here again.
Central Station, Rome
My wife and I were on vacation in Rome and we stayed at this place. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gemme De Roma Accommodation. The staff were exceptionally friendly and warm welcoming; the room and its amenities were very nice; very nice breakfast and its presentation; and finally felt very secure and safe as well. The location of place is also ideal very close to the Termini and basically connected with the rest of Rome, Italy and Europe!
Spagna, Rome
The location is perfect, right next to the Spanish steps.. we nearly didn’t use public transport (except for those really hot days :D). It’s also very close to Termini station so getting to the airport or anywhere in Italy is easy. The staff was amazing! Both receptionists we had a chance to meet were really kond and helpful and even recommended us places to eat and nice beaches near Rome. The room itself is simple but very nice.
Trevi, Rome
This was simply a fantastic hotel choice! The location is perfect, walking distance to lots of main attractions, the room was very clean and confortable and on top of that all were the hosts. This is a family run hotel, and they are all very kind, always eager to help and to explain what to visit, where to go in Rome or Italy! Super kind! We felt at home ! Coming back to Rome and of course, coming back to this lovely hotel!!
Central Station, Rome
This is the nicest hostel I stayed in Italy so far (I visited 3 cities and stayed in 4 hostels). It's very clean and organized. I was surprised that it looks modern. The facilities are good. I would definitely stay in this hostel if I visit Rome again and will recommend this stay to my friends too. There's a co-working space too if you want to work remotely. The common areas are also very neat and looks relaxing.
Central Station, Rome
Superb place to stay when visiting Rome. They gave us quite a thorough introduction to Italy's culture, today's situation, foods, drinks and places to visit. Just wonderful. So kind and sharing. Thank you a lot! It's a nice small walk to the Colosseum from the hotel. There is safe private parking inside the garden, behind closed gates and under a shade for motorcycles. Costs 5€ per bike.
The room was very clean, the staff change the towels and make the beds every day. Nice breakfast (although the choices were limited). The hotel is located very close to the central station (you can get metro, buses and trains for everywhere in the city, the airports and most cities of Italy). Many restaurants, pizzerias and fast food restaurants are very close. The staff is very polite.
Pantheon, Rome
This hotel was in a great location, we could see the dome of the pantheon from our window. The room was welcoming and it was the nicest place we've stayed in Italy so far. The air conditioning worked well and when we had problems the staff were very responsive. They also surprised us with a bottle of prosecco in honor of our anniversary, it was very kind
Pantheon, Rome
The room did have some modern facilities compared to most Italy Hotels (though one of the top shower heads actually flowed over the glass). They attempted to give you personalized service with made-to-order breakfast but i like better buffets and making my choices vs. having to write down day before. Very friendly staff. Bed was ok
Trevi, Rome
The location is very good. Walking distance to all major tourist sites. The room was very good. Super clean, well designed and amazing. The beds were super comfortable. Breakfast was very generous. The best we had in our 10 day stay in Italy. Staff were very friendly and super helpful. Definitely my now go to place in Rome.
The hotel is good for the money paid, the only problem we faced during the winter was the lack of heating on the room, but unfortunately that the problem in Italy in general… The rest was a great experience, staff was very friendly, breakfast was nice and the room was clean, beds were very comfortable!
The place is at the most appropriate place near Roma Termini, which is the best station to commute to the rest part of Italy. The owner and the people who take care of the hotel are best guys!:) We had an awesome stay at this hotel.
Central Station, Rome
This apartment was the worst one we stayed in during our two weeks in Italy. The only positive things I can say is that the air conditioning worked well, that the place was walkable from Rome Termini and that the building was quiet.
Very helpful and service minded staff. Felt well taken care of. Very clean room. Every day. Probably the best we have seen in Italy. The location in Rome is also an advantage for this hotel. Excellent.
Best hotel on our 3 week tour of Italy! Everything was of high standard - bed, bathroom, breakfast, staff. We also had a big terrace, and the price was not high at all!
So centric! The hotel, an old property by the Spanish Steps, is surrounded by the best shopping of Italy, and so many restaurants that you won’t know which to choose.
Everything! I first discovered this hotel when planning my 2021 trip to Italy and I love Hotel Palladium Palace! I will always stay there from now on when in Roma! 😃
We had a nice stay at Rossi Hotel. It is pretty close to main train station and not so far to city center. Breakfast is little bit better than standard in Italy is.
