We loved Rome.

We loved Rome. We were on a pilgrimage to the Basilicas and an audience with the Pope. The city has many attractions and places to eat. It is a great city to walk and see all the wonders of the city center. We will definitely go back.

You can leave Roma, but Roma will never leave you.

You can leave Roma, but Roma will never leave you. This is so true! You don’t really understand it until you live it. The Eternal City steals your heart and lingers in your soul. You witness the birth of civilization while strolling through romantic piazzas, savoring the best gelato after the longest, most joyful lunch you never thought you would had. Here time seems to stop as everyone gathers around the table to talk about life, where the only worry is which pasta, which wine you will try next. Italians makes you feel at home. Roma overwhelms you with its beauty, from walking where St. Peter once walked to standing in the Colosseum where gladiators fought. Every corner tells a story: fading frescoes, flowers blooming against ancient walls, contrasts that remind you that beauty is everywhere. It is the city of the dolce far niente, of siestas and dreams of moving here forever. Roma humbles you, inspires you, and makes you realize how small we are compared to what was built to last. Once you visit, you will never forget.. Roma will always call you back.

We strongly recommend visiting the Borghese Gallery for a closeup view of Renaissance art. The building is gorgeous, and the park-like setting offers some respite from the excited activity of the city.

No doubt, Rome is a beautiful city with a rich history and incredible architecture. It truly feels like stepping back in time while exploring its landmarks. However, I noticed that the municipality could work more on maintaining the cleanliness of common areas such as roads and walkways. This observation is based on the area where I stayed during my trip, and since I live in Prague, I am sharing this feedback as a comparison between what I’ve seen there and in Rome. Regarding public transportation, the metro system runs on time and is quite reliable. However, buses often take longer and sometimes do not start on time from their starting points, which I believe could be improved. Of course, this is my personal experience, and there may be other factors influencing this, such as the high number of tourists and other conditions, but better planning could help. On a positive note, the organization and planning at major attractions like the Colosseum and Vatican City are excellent, even with the large number of visitors. Overall, Rome remains a must-visit destination, but there is room for improvement in certain areas to make the experience even better.

I need to visit again as I missed quite a lot I wanted to visit. Quite a lot of what I wanted to see took me away from any Metro stations, so did a lot of walking between each sight. I first visited on a Saturday and it was very busy and hard to walk anywhere fast to see more in my allotted time. I originate from a City that was founded by the Romans, so came to see where it all started and glad I did.

Rome is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Rome is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world. It's no surprise that it's called the eternal city. Walking through various parts of the city, you will see historic buildings and artefacts constantly interwoven with modern architecture, infrastructure and humble but exceptional local food. It is rather easy to get around with public transport these days - especially via Tap & Go. However, do be mindful of crowded areas and buses/trains. I got pickpocketed and had my phone stolen on the last day. It is a real and ongoing risk. Regarding food we highly recommend having the roman "pizza al taglio", fried chicory leaves, artichokes and for meat-eaters: a porchetta sandwich. For vegans: we had the best food at "Rifugio Romano". For sightseeing and learning about Rome's history we recommend the free walking tours by GuruWalks and as a morbid but special tip we recommend visiting the Capuchin Crypt where you find the most intruiging artworks made out of human bones. But mostly: don't skip the big stuff like the Colosseum or the Vatican. It is truly worth the money.
