Many families visiting San Gimignano loved staying at Torciano Hotel Vecchio Asilo, Hotel Sovestro and Hotel Pescille.
I wanted to use one day for both S. G. and Volterra. However, it's needlessly complicated to get to Volterra by bus (two to three hours though it would be just 30 minutes by car). Plus, all the sights opening hours start at 10 am. So I stayed here the whole day and it was perfect. There is a church of S. Agostino which as the only exception opens earlier so I started there. Then I visited other sights, had the best gelato in my life (flavours like shafran, chestnut etc.) and spend the afternoon on the pleasant countryside walk - there is a route that goes a big half-circle around the town and gives you amazing views both at town and the country.
Loved the old world feeling of the city within the walls. Nice amount of shops, restaurants, gelato shops and places to grab a coffee. You should reserve 1 whole day to walk around. Make time to walk around in the evening, so beautiful. I recommend the Tenuta Torciano Winery which is only 15 mins outside the village walls. We truly enjoyed our tour and wine tasting experience there and plan on coming back. They also do truffle hunting!
Beautiful town especially for foodies. Pasticceria Armando y Marcella for Tuscan pastries and Bar le Torri for good pasta. Thursday market for cheeses and salami and cooked meats. Walk from here to Sienna on the Via Francigena. It's like walking through heaven's garden. It will take 2 days!
This city is a must stop when visiting Tuscany. We booked a cooking and winery tour at Casa Emma and just didn't want to leave. We cooked our own pasta (from scratch!), Tiramisu and drank the most wonderful wine you could imagine. San Gimignano is a lovely city with a lot of history; our 7 years old son just loved it; it is a must to visit!
San Gimignano is a small medieval village that is just beautiful! The streets are picturesque and the town squares make you feel like you've gone back in time. Lovely little terraces too with great offers for typical Italian food and a lot of wine and delicatesse shops. I wouldn't recommend the parking lots that are next to the city gate as it is a very tight squeeze. If you drive a little further down the hill opposite of the square before the town gate, you can find a parking lot with a bit more space.
A lovely Tuscan town with plenty to see, art, architecture, lots of eating places, beautiful countryside nearby, but it does get crowded, as it’s so popular, it’s a victim of its own prettiness! The town is on a hill, so lots of up and down, steps etc, so be prepared. The usual tourist shops, but plenty of good souvenirs too, and not too many of them. Climb up on the walls at the Rocca to see views, and climb 218 steps of the tallest tower to see excellent views of San Gimignano. Very good restaurant Vecchie Mura almost next door to the flat, we went twice. Also you must try the agriturismo Fattoria Poggio Allora, just 5km out of town, for an amazing dining experience, but don’t go if you’re a vegetarian!
San Gimignano
This is a fantastic apartment hotel. The family owners could not have been more friendly and hospitable. They really made our stay superb. We ate dinner there one night and had the best meal of entire trip in Italy, and for great value. They accommodated our kids no problem and were able to do a special pasta dish for them. Do NOT skip it! We also did their cooking course and Patricia was fantastic. We learned so much and had a delicious lunch. Location and views were great. Super close to San Gimignano by car.
San Gimignano
- Very friendly, helpful and uncomplicated staff! - The location is FANTASTIC! 2 mins from the center of San Gimignano and all restaurants and an amazing bakery is "right next door". - Very clean bed sheets and towels. Better than many hotels. - The windows had mosquito nets installed. (Very needed, bc there are nasty mosquitoes in the summer) - Parking right infront of the house. - We were allowed to use the pool at the main office building (3min drive by car).
San Gimignano
Excellent location off the Main Street and piazza to provide a some quiet. Breakfast included was the best I've had while in Spain and Italy. B&B is located above the restaurant. The restaurant on the main floor and terrace is extremely nice. Guest of the B&B can choose from a prix fixe menu which seemed like a good deal. But ensure to make a reservation as the restaurant is very popular and well-rated.
San Gimignano
Everything was perfect. We have read all comments before going to Teresa and family all mentioned ‘disadvantages’ were favorable for us: - not everybody spoke English: we were look for such real authentic place in Italy; - place on the map is a little bit different? No problem at all. We could see real agreeturismo. Wine tasing not so far, etc. Location, views, dogs - everything was really great and perfect.
San Gimignano
-Perfect mix between modern elements while keeping the historic charm alive - refurbished two storey bungalow with fully equipped kitchen and small patio ideal to relax - great pool to swim and pass the midday heat - exceptionally friendly hotel staff - delicious breakfast and dinner with nice view In conclusion: nicest Hotel we stayed at during our three week Italy trip!

Free parking is about 500m away, which Brunella helped us out with. After check-out, Brunella graciously stored our bags for us while we walked around San Gimignano.
San Gimignano
Everything! The people are amazing there, you are feeling like a family member from the arrival until you are leaving. This was the perfect stay in Italy, amazing views from the room, from the terrace (where we got wonderful breakfast and dinner) and from the pool. We really hope to return some day soon! Grazie Mille!!!!

Everything about this place is special (e.g., location, breakfast, yard, etc.). But what makes this establishment truly extraordinary is the warmth and kindness of the hosts: Mauro, Almerinta, and the immensely charming Francesca. Hospitality unmatched in my month-long travel throughout Italy.
