Located in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, The Alley Inn provides accommodations with a garden, free WiFi, a 24-hour front desk, and a shared lounge. With city views, this property has a terrace. The apartment looks like somebody's home vacated a day before so you get a homy feel; fully equiped, well located; breakfast included; friendly owners (some knowledge of Italian might be helpful)
This is my mother’s hometown where I spent my summers as a child. It will always be bittersweet for me to visit. However this small town has a very important place in history with several historical monuments to see, such as the amphitheater where gladiators trained before heading to Rome. It is also very close to Naples and the summer palace of the Kings of Savoia. The towns people have done a pretty decent job maintaining these sites.
The amphitheater is great- adjacent Museum of the Gladiator interesting but small. While touring the amphitheater we met one of the local caretakers, Antonio Crisci an attorney, who shared his love of history and excellent knowledge about the amphitheater with us. He made our visit extra special- even recommended a restaurant for dinner when I asked for his advice and made reservations for us. The restaurant, La Locanda Pernice, was wonderful. Chef Guiseppe and his wife Angela, were terrific hosts and the food was out of this world plus very reasonable. All in all it was a great experience.
Ok, so here's why I said I'd recommend it and then gave it only an 'ok' rating. To begin with, it is in Caserta, and lets say has some rough edges. So, a family from America looking for a nice, quiet, friendly town may want to skip this one. But for me, I love to see real places with real people and enjoy places warts and all. it has significance for me because my great grandma's dad Giuseppe De Luca was born there. The Gelato was great as was the simple panini I bought at the market. Also, the area around the comune was charming. And the Garofalo Fattorie for buffalo mozzarella is right down the road - molto buono!

If you are looking for a place to stay close to Naples, this hotel is an excellent choice. It is only a 30-minute drive from the city and from the airport. Modern building with sparkling clean and very comfortable rooms with absolutely amazing window views on the surrounding vineyards and Vesuvius. Most friendly staff with breakfast included. Simply amazing. Will stay there again next time.

This was my second stay here and not only was it as good as last time, but this time it was much quieter at night. Once again our host was very helpful and welcoming. The apartment was clean, comfortable and has the very best view in the entire town in my opinion. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Santa Maria Capua Vetere!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. And, the best of all, the restaurant beneath the hotel was excellent!
