Located in Varzo in the Piedmont region, B&B Chalet Il Picchio provides accommodations with free WiFi and free private parking. Everything was super good. Stuff was so helpful and easygoing even about nonhotel related askings. The room and breakfast are satisfying. Everything is so clean and the environment is really cozy. I would prefer here again.
Set in Varzo, 24 mi from Bettmeralp, B&B dell'Antica Osteria offers a restaurant and free WiFi. Varzo was an unexpected treasure. Fully of charismatic and typically run down mountain village buildings. Had a lovely walk around. Host is very helpful
Overlooking the Ossola Valley, Belvedere Hotel offers free wellness facilities and a restaurant serving Piedmont cuisine and creative dishes. It is in Crodo, a 20-minute drive from Domodossola. It's clear that the staff really take pride in their hotel. The whole place was spotlessly clean. Our room was beautiful with a high standard of fixtures and fittings including a huge rainfall shower and a view of the valley below from the balcony. We had complimentary flip flops and bathrobes to wear down to the spa and pool which again were of the highest standard. Dinner in the beautiful restaurant was fabulous. We were lucky enough to chat to the chef before dinner and he talked us through the menu, including helping us select items that were a real taste of the region. Every dish was delicious and we were glad we were talked into trying the dessert which was spectacular. I was sorry that we only stayed for 1 night and hope to go back soon.
It's close to a skiing resort but for summer walking close to Milan it's hard to beat. Well signposted routes, beautiful scenery and off the beaten track surprisingly so not too many people around.
The village has got a special atmosphere, which invites you to discover it all. The house is to be found in an uphill part of the village (a ’fraz’). You can only come there via a small walking path, ages old. You experience the centuries old way of living in the mountains.
There is something dark about these mountains and Varzo. I am crazy about this. It is a small city, so there is not much to see. But if you have a car, I would drive some extra miles to sleep here. I had seen pictures of it, but still I was surprised by its charme and dark beauty. This is most of all the historical center, with its Trattoria Derna.
