Long weekend in Venice was beautiful! If you can go during the week in off season might be a little less crowded. If you want to see also Murano (glass) and Burano (embroidery), really wort a visit, you need a long weekend 2 1/2 days.

I came to photograph one particular building, and was prepared for the swarming throngs of tourists from previous visits...Venice is best seen when there are the least tourists, so March or April, if not December and January...During warm weather you must expect dense, swarming crowds of tourists EVERYWHERE all hours of night and day...there is no escaping it... Keep in mind that there are less than 50,000 permanent residents of Venice, and it is losing population every year because of the excessive tourism driving up costs for residents and making life miserable for permanent residents... There are some good, even excellent inexpensive hotels near the train station along with some good, even great restaurants in that neighborhood, but Venice is a very expensive place....getting around on the water is expensive but there are 1 and 2 day passes for the water busses that are much less expensive than just buying a ticket every time you get on the water bus. You can buy them at the tobacco shops. Be careful about pickpockets, they really exist....and are sneaky...

We have been to Venice before but a long time ago.

We have been to Venice before but a long time ago. Prices have definitely increased, with the tourist tax and a standard 12 euro fixed service charge on every bill. However, we did enjoy our stay. Transport costs have also risen, so we bought one day passes to travel to Murano and other places on one day. Then a second day walked everywhere. We enjoyed Rialto bridge and market. We found some reasonable meals, some more expensive. A hidden gem was the Corner Pub at the back of the Basilica Santa Maria della Salute. Excellent chichetti and Hugo and Aperol Spritz for 3 euros. Elsewhere we paid up to 9 euros!

Although you must ditch your car, ride a noisy Vaporetto and haul your luggage over bridges, the inconvenience is so worth it. There is no other city like Venice, with its numerous canals, old buildings coated in subtle pastels, alleys, piazzas and bridges....quaint, charming, and immersed in layers of history. Let yourself be immersed in the rich culture as you explore medieval cathedrals, grand palaces, and fascinating museums. And don't be afraid to wander away from St. Marks and other crowded sites to get a true feeling for life in this city on water. One hidden gem is San Giorgio Maggiore, a short ferry ride from St. Marks, but with a beautiful church and old monastery, plus a bell tower with spectacular views. All this being said, I would not recommend Venice to people with small children or with mobility issues.

Venice is a significant piece of history.

Venice is a significant piece of history. If you want to enjoy it, stay for a night. In daytime it is too crowded. For all attractions buy a ticket online, one day in advance, rather individual tickets for every attraction separately... combined tickets are not always accepted. There are looooots of tourist traps... 20% of shops are super expensive brands, 75% total tourist traps, and just about 5% are really worth it. Lucky if you find something special. Gondola rides and water taxi extremely overpriced... not affordable for most tourists. Up to 200€ for a half-hour-long gondola ride, minimum 150€ for a one-way taxi ride to the airport.

The hotel was beautifully designed. We felt like we had stepped into a museum with all the best-quality Venetian tapestries and glass chandeliers. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, they made us feel at home. The location was also excellent, it was walking distance to most attractions, it was near a water bus stop, and surrounded by local art galleries and stores. I would recommend this to anyone who’s looking for an intimate, boutique hospitality at the heart of Venice :)

Great location, beautifully furnished apartment, very Venetian, you really felt you were staying in Venice, not just Italy. Slopey floor that added to the charm of an old building, and watching the fish swim past every morning in the canal. 3rd photo is the view from the living room.Great take away pizza shop and galetti at the end of the lane for a cheaper night in. Advise doing the Row Venice, where you learn to row a gondola, fabulous experience.

Excellent , this interior completely immersed in the atmosphere of Italy . The furniture, the walls, the windows, it is the perfect place for the atmosphere of Venice . I am in awe of the people who work there and grateful for such hospitality. The balcony overlooking the bridge, I will never forget. It's the best I could have chosen con tutta l'anima.
