OMG - the most beautiful and welcoming hotel I have ever been. What a gem in Venice. The facilities are super new, while keeping the historical features of the building. The staff is great, with the highlight being MATTIA - who helped us throughout our 3 days stay. The location of the hotel is perfect, in a very nice neighborhood, just in front of the access to vaporeto and water taxis. Thank you, Radisson, for this amazing stay.

Although you must ditch your car, ride a noisy Vaporetto and haul your luggage over bridges, the inconvenience is so worth it. There is no other city like Venice, with its numerous canals, old buildings coated in subtle pastels, alleys, piazzas and bridges....quaint, charming, and immersed in layers of history. Let yourself be immersed in the rich culture as you explore medieval cathedrals, grand palaces, and fascinating museums. And don't be afraid to wander away from St. Marks and other crowded sites to get a true feeling for life in this city on water. One hidden gem is San Giorgio Maggiore, a short ferry ride from St. Marks, but with a beautiful church and old monastery, plus a bell tower with spectacular views. All this being said, I would not recommend Venice to people with small children or with mobility issues.

Venice is a significant piece of history.

Venice is a significant piece of history. If you want to enjoy it, stay for a night. In daytime it is too crowded. For all attractions buy a ticket online, one day in advance, rather individual tickets for every attraction separately... combined tickets are not always accepted. There are looooots of tourist traps... 20% of shops are super expensive brands, 75% total tourist traps, and just about 5% are really worth it. Lucky if you find something special. Gondola rides and water taxi extremely overpriced... not affordable for most tourists. Up to 200€ for a half-hour-long gondola ride, minimum 150€ for a one-way taxi ride to the airport.

Venice is a real spectacle and I would recommend it to everyone. We travelled in early September and it was very busy, but at other times of the year this would be slightly better. My top tip: TAKE MOSQUITO REPELLENT. I would also suggest eating in Cannaregio or Dorsoduro rather than San Marco or San Polo as food is much more reasonable and probably of better quality. Getting around Central Venice is easy and can be done on foot.

Venice is stunning and unique but be prepared for crowds and lots of mosquitoes in summer. Despite many warnings, we had no safety issues at all. Keep your belongings close & all will be fine. Vaporetto transport is exceptional & reliable though best to buy a Venezia travel card or it is expensive.

Venice has a unique dreamlike magic.

Venice has a unique dreamlike magic. Maybe it lies in the water, the boats, the colours, the streets. A decaying city? Maybe, but I agree with Peggy Guggenheim who said it is better not to have a lover in Venice as Venice will take his place, demanding all your love and attention. On a practical note: If a few days in Venice, buy a vaporetto ticket for multiple days, it's great value and the vaporetti takes you everywhere in no time - saves you walking too much and getting lost! Have a plan of what you want to see and stick to it. We were distracted too many times and did not see or do half of what we had wanted to.

We loved the hotel - situated extremely close to the centre St Marks square , had a nice atmosphere with stylish furnishings. Our room was elegant and comfortable (though the water was not hot enough to take a shower in the morning or evening- this is the only reason why I rated the place very good instead of exceptional). The breakfast was exceptional - coffee, a wide choice of baked goods, delightful pastries, savoury food etc. We travelled a lot in Italy and I would rate the breakfast as one of the best we have experienced in Italy so far.

The owners of the property ensured that even little details were taken care of e.g other than water, soft drinks were provided foc and the toiletries kit was even more comprehensive than that of hotels. Breakfast was a good spread of cold cuts, cheese, cornflakes. This was the best hotel out of the 4 we stayed during our Italy holiday (and the rest are all very good as well).
