It is nice and relaxing to stay in the old town, as well as near the centre for the train station. You see both sides of the same town and the 2 languages of Italian and French (I speak both, so this is great). I think Ventimiglia is a hidden gem - very close to both Sanremo and Menton! Excellent location for visiting nearby Italian towns and french towns are easily reached using reliable trains.
