We had a great time at Musa and his family's place. We stayed in the old family house, which is renovated with love and attention to detail and the view over Wadi Dana is amazing. We also enjoyed the lovely dinner and breakfast, which gave us lots of energy for our hike. Musa was very welcoming and helpful and we had a really nice stay.

We absolutely loved this place. Communication before and during our stay was great. Our room was spacious, the bed was really big and comfy, we had a great view from our room and balcony and the water pressure and temperature in the shower was very good. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner and everything was delicious. There is a really nice outside sitting area where you can relax, enjoy the view and have a cup of tea. Don’t miss the sunset there! But the best part of staying there is the owners and staff. They are so friendly and welcoming, always around for a chat and very helpful with all the questions we had.

Absolutely love the simplicity and hospitality of Luxury Huts family, everyone was welcoming, smiling and working hard to satisfy guests needs. I would go again! Loved the view and isolation from other hostels, loved seeing animals around, 3 cats, two horses and local Canaani dogs passing by through the property. Dogs are allowed btw! The rooms are simple yet have all the essentials.

We had a great experience! We received a great treatment from all the family members. Delicious food and breakfast! It was very exciting to be in a typical house in Dana located in the old village where the trails in the reserve start. Highly recommend it, we would love to come back.

Dana’s Trail Hotel, hotel in Dana

Situated in Dana, 28 km from Shobak Castle, Dana’s Trail Hotel has a garden, a terrace and a restaurant, as well as free WiFi. Some rooms at the property have a balcony with a mountain view.

Hotel run by a family that lives in the village for few generations, true local place! Due to it’s location it has spectaculat views (majority hotels in the village don’t) and you’re far away from crowds and stray dogs (yes, there are few of them, often barking at night). It’s the last hotel in the village, closest to main Dana trail, perfect starting point for hiking. Also it has own water source so there’s no problem with water shortage when more people come back from hiking to the village at the same time. Rooms are just like in the photos, bathrooms are new and clean. Food is very good, always more than you can eat :) We absolutely loved our stay here ❤️

Pay attention to the weather conditions depending on the time of year. We had to abandon the hike due to heavy rain 3 days before (end of February/beginning of March). Our host recommended doing this hike after March 15 and ideally in May.

Possibly 90% of people visiting Dana are hikers, or so it seemed. The main trail (but there are several) gets very busy early morning. Walking the trail an hour or so after dawn offers the only realistic hope of seeing anything of Jordan's larger animals, but you have to be lucky. The trail is steep in places and the scree is quite slippery. A third of this magnificent site (the finest reserve in Jordan) looks likely to be degazetted for a large scale copper mine. It is unclear how/ if this will imapct on the immediate environs of the hotel and its unparalled views.

Dana village by itself is completely crowded by tourists to the extend that the one street is clogged with cars. Hotel prices are on the higher level. Nevertheless nature is beautiful around Dana! Very nice hikes close by (Dana trail, Shaq al Reesh Trail) and a bit further away extraordinary nice Wadi Ghumair. If you are a bit experienced in finding your way with hiking apps you probably do not need any tour guide which are frequently offered by the hotels in Dana.

Dana is a super cute and quaint little town high up on the mountains. It is well worth a visit on your trip to Jordan. From here, you can stay at many hotels and dine in authentic and local restaurants. Of course, you can also choose from a variety of activities and trails in the Dana Biosphere Reserve. Would recommend to anyone, 100%!!

The hiking in Dana is amazing.

The hiking in Dana is amazing. You can hike from there to Petra. Staying in Dana you can experience nature, watch animals, hike and meet the local people in the community. They also had a spring of water, so some areas are very green with fruit trees and flowers. We got invited to tea by a local family when we were exploring the area.

Where we stayed was amazing at Hobbit Village, but Dana needs some help. It is worth going, and the hiking is amazing, but Dana village seems to have stalled in the development that the Dana Cooperative is supposed to be doing. All the improvements seem to have stalled, there is garbage everywhere, the cooperative shops were all closed, former garden projects dried up, all of the water from the spring seems to be diverted to to Dana Village and Feynan at the expense of the surroundings. The animal welfare situation is shamefully bad and I think that they should be helping to address this. The Do keys are tied up on cobblestones with no access to shelter, food or water for hours ( we watered the donkeys when we could) there are stray skinny dogs everywhere with no access to vet care anywhere close by.. you can’t even buy pet food. The dogs are breeding like rabbits…. It seems like Dana was a dream project that foreign countries threw money at, it started out and then everyone walked away once the funds started flowing in.
