Can’t say enough good things about our stay. The cabin is spotless clean throughout and beautiful. The owner has thought of all the little touches to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay(bathroom items, face lotions, even a salt soak for the bath). The beds are very comfortable. We enjoyed the projector screen to watch some YouTube movies. The river is rushing by just outside the giant windows and the cabin is set in a small quiet village. The grocery store a 3 minutes walk away had lots of fresh produce and plenty of choices to cook a nice dinner. The owners were in Tanabe and graciously offered to drop us by the cabin on our arrival to spare us the bus ride. For those doing the kumono Kodo nakahechi route, this could be a good option to stay the night before you start, as Takijiri Oji is only a couple km down the track. Worked wonderfully for us.

The host Jian was amazing and the food cooked by his wife and daughter was exceptional, both for the dinner and in the next day's bento boxes for our day walking the Kumano Kodo
