Hotel Goryukan is a local hotel since 1937, located right in front of Hakuba Happo One Snow Resort (approximately 5 min walk). The room was wonderful with a great view of the surrounding area. It was conveniently close to the ski lifts, and had a nice bath area. Because of our booking we had to change rooms between nights, and the staff was amazing at accommodating that in a way that didn't detract from our skiing. The ski storage area and drying room were very handy for ease of our vacation.

A 10-minute drive from Hakuba Happo-One Ski Resort, Hotel Oak Forest features natural hot spring baths and both Western and Japanese-style rooms with free Wi-Fi. The rooms are huge by Japanese standards and have good aircon. The Onsen is awesome. Literally used our shower once as I just used the onsen everyday after riding. Lots to choose from with the breakfast, lots of hot food, soups, noodles, sausages to name a few. Cereals, yoghurt, juice etc. Plenty of parking available. The bus comes right outside the front door that takes people to the main ski resorts. It's not a very long walk (5-10min) into central Echoland where all the restaurants and bars are.

Plenty of restaurants in Happo One and Echoland. Happo One is lovely to walk around with plenty of shopping. The bus between resorts is infrequent and does not operate at night. Very difficult to visit another village in the evenings.
Choose anywhere in Hakuba to stay at as there's so many taxi's or free shuttle buses to get you to the ski slopes every morning . Much nicer places to stay are only 1 -2kms from the gondalas. Food is amazing and we have been 4 times to ski at Hakuba from Australia. Japan is the best snow !!!
We couldn't find much exciting to do in the little town of Hakuba, but the area surrounding the hotel was lovely. It is within walking distance of one of the ski lifts and there are free buses to the other mountains. We ate at both restaurants and they were okay. The hotel had a free shuttle that would take you into town.
excellent range of skiing. very good snow cover. too many aussies! The chairlifts are all too slow, and they could stay open for at least another 30 minutes. good value lift tickets- less than half the cost in OZ and much better snow, half the crowds.
Many ski resorts are suitable for different levels of skiers, and there are shuttles pass through all resorts. Happo is the biggest town, other resorts are relatively smaller and not many late night activities. Many local people run their own inns and provide traditional Japanese dinner with cheaper price. It is a good experience to try but usually they are shared bathroom and sleep on futon beds. Rental equipments and ski lift tickets are ususlly much cheaper in Japan than other western countries but the ski runway is shorter and more suitable for beginners.
Hakuba is a great little town! We only experienced it during ski season but it has a good small town feel. My only complaint is that there aren’t a lot of food places during ski season. If you do not have dinner reservations, it can be difficult to find a place to eat.
We stayed for a week in late December 2020. Two adults and two young children in a 3 bed room was good enough space for us and also our gear. Staff was extremely helpful and provided round trip transportation from Hakuba Station to the hotel. Provided discount lift tickets and ski rentals for our daughter. Onsen was a treat after each day on the mountain. Good selection for breakfast. Walking distance to Nakiyama lift at Happo and several restaurants nearby. Overall highly recommend this location and we will likely return.
Hakuba
Our stay at Hakuba Matata Lodge was amazing. Managers were amazingly kind, helpful, and friendly people. They really made sure that we felt at home during our stay. The room was also nice and the beds were comfy. Definitely sufficient for sleep in/ out. The shower was a bit small but still manageable. The location was also great, just a few steps away from the bus stop going directly to a few slopes like Happo One or Hakuba47. The nearest convenience store was about 10 min walk in the middle of Echoland.
Hakuba
Owner was very endearing. Had snacks ready after a day on the slopes. Futon was a bit too stiff, but I was able to get another layer to reach my comfort level. Having a kotatsu in house was a nice touch. Having access to an onsen on property also made recovery after day on slopes worth it. Drying room for ski equipment was welcomed. Speaking of slopes, Happo One is a 10 ish minute walk. Very doable even with all equipment on. Woody the nearby ski rental shop also nice.
Hotel is dated but everything is clean and comfortable. We stay in a Japanese style room with a child and the room was spacious and great for our family. There is a shuttle right out front to the ski resorts which was super convenient. The hotel has a drying room for your gear & an onsen for after the slopes relaxation. Breakfast was good but be prepared to eat the same thing every morning if you’re staying a while.
The staff was very welcoming and gave us tips for dinner, ski pass, bus schedule etc. The Hotel location is right in the heart of eco village - where you'll have a huge choice of restaurants, cafes and rental shops. Its also easy to just take the free shuttle bus for just 5 min to arrive at the ski resort. Super delicious breakfast at the cute Swiss restaurant right next to the Hotel.
Hakuba
Mojo lodge is very conveniently located for skiing at Happo One as well as catching a bus to any other resort in Hakuba Valley. The staff were incredibly helpful and really put in a lot of effort to make your experience of the local area amazing. Souza was particularly helpful for coordinating shuttles, booking onsens and making sure lost lbags were found!
Hakuba
Quite close to Hakuba Goryu like 8min walk I think. Cheap accommodation considering I wanted to save money for buying ski pass and rent ski. Can get a cheaper lift pass (¥600 cheaper of not mistaken) from them and cheaper rental at Yamaha rental if we told them early. Overall the accommodation was good. A single room was quite big for me.
They provide hotel pick up and drop off from/to hakuba station if given notice in advance which helped us lots. Their breakfast is especially egg Benedicts were very delicious. Room is spacious with strong heater. location of hotel is really convenient for skiers to get about to imori, 47, goryu and happo.
The Standard Chalet is sooooo spacious even for 4-5 people, and the location is great for both Hakuba Goryu and Hakuba Happo-one Ski Resort. It has everything that we need, might as well looking foward to stay here again when I go to Hakuba.
Hakuba
The house is super clean and comfy! my family and I had an amazing time! close the Happoone ski resort and bunch of restaurants, super convenient!
Hakuba
