Hotel Soyokaze is a 5-minute ride from the Hakuba Valley and 2.6 km from JR Hakuba Station. A free 2-way shuttle to Hakuba Station is provided. From the moment Taka offered to collect us from the bus station we realised we’d stumbled across a little gem :) The hotel is perfectly located a couple of minutes walk to the ski bus stop, minutes walk from all the best bars and restaurants in the area, but what really makes this place so special are the hosts, Taka and his lovely wife go over and above to ensure you have everything you need at all times, they are so welcoming, gracious and kind hearted and genuinely want you to enjoy every moment of your stay. I left my phone on the bus - Taka rushed me down to the bus office and we got it back. I needed to post something back to uk - Taka drove me down to the post office and organised the postage for me!!!! After reading the reviews about the food at the hotel we decided to book in for a special Christmas meal and it did not disappoint... once again Taka’s attention to detail with every course was incredible... a really highlight of our trip :) Oh and the private hotel Onsen is a real bonus after a long day skiing so nice to walk down from your room in your Kimono and relax :) This hotel deserves the highest accreditation’s from Booking.com, we are so happy we chose their place and will 100% recommend it to all... Thank you Taka for making our stay so special, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you and your wife and I wish every success for you and your hotel :) Arigatōgozaimas!!!

Rhythm great for rentals and boot alterations/ fitting Great cultural experience with awesome people at Eternal Flame for accommodation
The place has kept its japanese style very much. It is far less crowded than Niseko. Many ski runs and abundant snow (less than niseko though). You need to plan the evenings carefully since many restaurants need reservation, some close quite early. There are a few public onsen, less busy after 1800. It was our second time in Hakuba and there will be most likely a third time next year!
As someone who just learnt to snowboard, Hakuba offered alot of options with its alpine range. As the area is focused on winter sports, you can find all sorts of the neccessary equipments there (though if you're planning to buy some, it might not be the cheapest place to do so).
It's getting overrun by Aussies and Kiwis! Very good variety of ski areas, something for everyone. Entry fees for the public onsens are a bit steep. Easy to get around by free shuttle buses and the drivers are all so helpful.
Been there 3 times now and i am done with it. The bus system just doesn't work and then you need to rely on an occasionally good taxi system. Was going from one location to another which required a 10.18 bus to the bus station then a connecting bus to the next ski area. Problem was that the 10.18 bus was running late and it was a 7-10 minute trip to the bus station. Problem - the connecting bus left at 10.20 with another 1 not due to 12.05. We never stood a chance. At the bus station there is a phone for one of the taxi companies that promotes english ok. They refused to send a taxi, however when one of the lovely bus station staff rang, we had a taxi in 10 minutes. Then when you finally get a bus, they are darn busy which means you may have to wait for the next couple before you can get a spot - we were travelling as a family of 4. We had issues with our accommodation so had to each out every night which was fine - the food buses were fantastic and they became a favourite. Unfortunately we will stick with Shiga Kogen which is largely connected by lifts and gondolas and while an almost a non existent taxi service and very limited food/nightlife options and almost no ATM's, the skiing and the linking of areas with lifts makes it far easier to get around. Base yourself in Ichinose and the issue of food and a beer are solved.
Our stay was made easy with the wealth of knowledge and help by the lodge manager. A beautiful mountain view from the lodge and comfortable rooms to fit a whole family with a private bathroom. Getting to Ski fields was easy and the local 7-11 had plenty of cheaper meal options when the kids were tired from skiing. We were able to relax both in our room and in the main hang out area to watch movies or play board games. A lovely breakfast provided every day. We would stay here again and again.

We had an amazing trip to Hakuba and stayed at the Funny Inn for 6 nights. Mayumi and Hide were excellent hosts. The breakfast they made each morning was delicious and it made for a great start to some epic ski days! They were so helpful in figuring out how to get to the different mountains and also helped with dinner reservations. Their ski warming room for boots and gear was so amazing and helped dry our stuff each day. We will definitely stay here on our next visit to Hakuba.

This is by far the best place we’ve stayed at in the Japanese Alps ski resorts. Eric and Fumie made our stay exceptional. Plus the lodge is very cosy, with comfortable rooms, large beds, a big fireplace...

The location is very convenient to the ski resort (Hakuba Happo-one). More importantly, the accommodation owner is extremely helpful. She picked me up at late night due to the previous travel to Hakuba. She was also co-operative to accommodate my dinner schedule, and made good recommendation, such as ski passes and onsen.

The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The hotel is located a short way from the Happo One Gondola (generally a shuttle ride rather than a walk - but not a problem as the hotel runs lots of shuttle to Happo One and other nearby resorts). The food in the restaurant is good, and there is a bar.

Absolutely lovely place that’s very near to Hakuba Goryu Ski Resort. It’s ski-in-ski-out facilities to store and dry your ski/snowboarding gears, indoor and outdoor onsen.
