It was large enough to be comfortable in and not feel crowded but small enough to be cozy. It felt like staying in a friend’s place rather than a hotel and we liked that. The location was ideal, a short walk to lift and among all the eating and drinking places. I had snowboard courses and that was great too.

Walking distance to ski lifts. Good food at good price. Not a luxury hotel, but if you're looking for good value for skiing, this place was great. Staff were very helpful

very nice old school hotel. it's aged but it's well maintained. extremely helpful staff and I would love to go back again. however I have one suggestion. pls insulate the windows better as the cold drift from the window can be very chilly.

Amazing family-run hotel with great access to the slopes! We had such a great stay here—the family is incredibly kind and welcoming, and the mom’s homemade Baos for breakfast were delicious! The shuttle to the ski resort runs every 8 minutes, and there’s a direct bus to Nozawa Onsen for a relaxing soak. If you’re a beginner skier, snowboarder, or traveling with kids, the smaller nearby resorts are a hidden gem—less crowded, cheaper rentals, and more fun. Highly recommend this place for a cozy, hassle-free ski trip!

The hosts were extremely kind and accomodating. They had wonderful recommendations and drove us to one of the onsen nearby. We shared a lovely home cooked dinner and breakfast and despite our lack of Japanese were able to have interesting conversations. Would highly recommend.

    Llama is a typical Japanese town. Great for a walk, but one day is plenty! Madarao ski resort scenery, location is wonderful. Not a big resort, nice piste and some great tree skiing, but resort more for intermediate skier, 4/ 5 days more than enough! Lots of snowboarders!

    Madarao is a small village about 25 minutes away by bus from Iiyama. It is very accessible from Tokyo by Shinkansen. Dinner has to be booked in advance since there are not too many choices. People are very friendly, as Japanese are usually are, and try to accommodate as much as possible.

    Close to ski fields, easy access from Shinkansen station by bus. Room was a good size for a Japanese hotel, lovely view of the mountains from the room. Large buffet for breakfast and dinner with a good selection of food. Hotel had its own onsen which was great. Large locker room for ski equipment and also a rental place on site. There was also a restaurant and cafe in the complex. Discount price lift tickets for guests.

    Note: Stayed in the Separated Apartment The location is SUPERB. Literally ski-in/ski-out. Apartment also comes with access to the hotel's onsen, which is quite spacious and includes a sauna and outdoor pool. Apartment can comfortably sleep four people and includes a well-stocked kitchenette.

    Conveniently located only 5min walk from the main lift. Rooms were simple but beds were comfortable and western style. Hotel was clean. They had a restaurant serve but you had to precook when you booked the room.
