Masashi-san and Mamiko-san made me feel at home. The property is a bit uphill, so you end up getting incredible views on Omishima island, and there's also a nice rock garden. Food options on the island are limited so I appreciated the lovely dinner after a long day's ride, and I also appreciate the vegen option offered 🙏🏻 all in all, would definitely recommend staying here! Thanks for a lovely stay

Where should I start....wow this is such a cool and very clean house. The owners are very helpful and friendly. The house is full of history and tradition. If you would like to say you stayed at a real Japanese House, I guess you can't find a better place. It is not a Japanese style room in a hotel somewhere downtown. It is a real Japanese House in a small village. Your neighbors are not tourists but people living in this village. The house has great sleeping rooms and a nice and well equipped kitchen. Also a historical phone and original lamps...don't miss the chance to stay there...

Very clean, comfortable bed. Great view and location in central Shimanami expressway. Excellent kitchen with complete appliances and cookware! We cooked everyday. Nice shower and bathtub. You can run or bike from the house, with very few cars on the road in the island.

It is in a very quiet location. There is a small beach just behind the house. Outside the house can park 2-3 cars. There are 3 rooms of reasonable size. 2 rooms are with 2 double decker beds. 1 room with 2 single beds, and this room is joined to the sitting area. The kitchen and dining area is certainly the most interesting area. The kitchen has all the facilities for light cooking, and the large dining table can easily seat 10. The is a washing machine and dryer, and wifi is good and strong. The place is quite remote, so it is suitable for those travelling by own vehicle, car, bicycle or motorbike. The hosts are very hospitable and very helpful with local places to visit. They met us on arrival. Check-out was also free of hassle.

charming rustic guesthouse right on the road. no trouble finding it whatsoever. great place to stay in if you’re planning on breaking up Shimanami Kaido into two days (like I did and completely recommend doing). best of all, it was right next to a konbini! also, they sell vegan friendly western food! I’ve been looking for coconut milk in Japan for ages and finally found some!

The island has a very slow pace. Great for relaxing.

The island has a very slow pace. Great for relaxing. We came here on a motorcycle/fishing trip. The motorcycle part was great. The fishing part…. was difficult😩 Lots of chinu (black bream) around and big, but they were not interested in the lures we used. Saw some locals catching them with bait, so we will have to change our strategy next time! Also, squid fishing is quite popular. One more thing, many restaurants only open for lunch or close/take last orders early so be prepared for this or you’ll be eating convenience store foods!🤣

We were involved in the 7 bridges bike ride over 2 days so...

We were involved in the 7 bridges bike ride over 2 days so we only stayed in Imabari for one night. If I was to do this trip again I would do it over 3 or 4 days in order to stay a little longer and explore.

It's a great place for spending time and eating.

It's a great place for spending time and eating. It's said to be a mecca for cyclists, but boats and buses are relatively easy to use, making it enjoyable for everyone from young people to the elderly. The islanders are shy and kind. Please allow yourself plenty of time and treat your bills with care. Most establishments don't charge the consumption tax. Having small cash ready before entering the island will make things easier. There are many delicious restaurants serving seafood like sashimi and simmered fish, as well as teppanyaki. There's a wide variety of citrus fruits, which can be purchased at roadside stations and A-coop. They also ship to other areas. The lemons are so refreshing and delicious you can bite into them straight away, and there's also a wide selection of homemade jams for sale.

Fantastic, everything is designed for cyclists. Beautiful scenery and spectacular suspension bridges. Very generous and high-quality dinner. Washing machines available. Pajamas provided for the night. Cleanliness and friendly staff. An essential stop halfway through the route to the finish (70km). As someone who never cycles, I managed to complete the entire 70km in 2 days. A record for me.
