The buffet breakfast was really good. I loved how there were so many different private onsen and that there weren't any lineups. There is a health room with massage chairs and foot massager and some health measures that was nice. I was surprise there were so much kids entertainment there as well. The location was close to the near by attractions. There was free parking as well. Overall it was a great experience

Cleanest hostel I’ve ever been in, convenient location, and reasonably priced. But what really blew me away was the service. Hey-san was incredibly helpful with recommendations and reservations nearby. He even helped with our laundry while we were out and about. Our whole group loved staying here.

Beautiful rotemburo. Excellent, artistically prepared kaiseki dinner. Spacious 12-mat tatami room and a sitting area with western-style chairs if you don’t like sitting on a zabuton. An indoor staircase. Very good green tea.

There is a more to explore here than we realized.
There is a more to explore here than we realized. Apart from hiking up hills for great views, we did not budget enough time for more sight-seeing. We had wanted to visit a wasabi farm but wound up at a wasabi market which was really cool with lots of wasabi based products - that was an experience in itself. Probably best explored by car.

It was a lovely small town, a welcome change from busy cities crowded with tourists. Very relaxing, beautiful hot springs in the middle of town, a charming temple and shrine surrounded by huge cedar trees. We stayed twi nights and really enjoyed it. From Shuzenji station you can take bus to a viewing area where if the weather conditions are right you can view Mt Fuji.Cynthia - 10Scored 10

A car or bike is really essential to get around, and see the the sights, as buses may only run a few times each day. Doi Gold Mine is an excellent working museum, lots to see and touch, even handle the pure gold ingots weighing 12.5kg. You can even do some gold panning. 400 metres of caves have been prepared as an example of the old hand-dug mines, 30 cm per day. Mihama beach is great for families, sheltered, with good facilities, and the nearby Heda museum documenting Japan-Russian relations. Lots of small coastal towns, with some places to stay, though many restaurants close early, and there are very few convenience stores, meaning you need to stock up and plan your trip and meals. Food is mainly sea food, izakayas, the odd Italian and Chinese restaurant, and some tea/ coffee shops. Not really a culinary hot spot. Beach restaurants serve ramen, hot dogs, yakisoba, and other fast foods. Quite a few abandoned places, relics of the bubble era.

public transport is very difficult, expensive and quite rare, make sure to check timetables (all in japanese by the way) because you can end up waiting hours for the next bus. Restaurants were close by. The breakfast had the largest buffet selections of delicious Japanese food. I got to ride an e-bike for the first time which made for faster travel in the hilly town in the iffy weather—there was a thunderstorm at night but clouds during the day. There were many family activities available in the hotel. No shoes allowed in hotel, put them in locker and walk around in socks or bare feet.AndrewUnited States of America
