Located a 10-minute walk away from JR Kaminoyamaonsen Train Station, Arimakan features an outdoor hot spring bath with a view of the surrounding mountains. Wonderful bedroom, the tatami room with two single beds, want to go back again! And the Thai girl (ペイ) was very good to us.
Built on a 10,000 square metre property, Meigetsuso is located a 10-minute drive from Kaminoyama Onsen Station. Everything! Private open-air onsen bath, very spacious room including a Weatern-style lounge, beautiful private garden with Autumn colours. We were very pleasantly surprised that they paid our taxi fares to and from the rail station.
Featuring hot spring baths and free-use bikes, Annex Fujiya Ryokan is located in Kaminoyama Hot Spring area. JR Kaminoyama Onsen Station is a 20-minute walk away. Free WiFi is available in all areas. We came by car quite late evening therefore we didn't order dinner. We were met by friendly staff. They answered all the questions we had, shared the local map and gave recommendations regarding local food and places where better to eat. Also they had a free parking lot next to the hotel.
Conveniently located within a 10-minute walk from JR Kaminoyamaonsen Station, Tenjin no Yu Azumaya features indoor/outdoor hot spring baths with a stunning view of the surrounding mountains. My mother and I were due to stay at Azumaya on the 2nd, but misfortune struck on our way there in the form of a big tree fallen across a narrow, rocky, winding, single-laned mountain road, due to the typhoon the week before. So we were stuck, unable to go back down or go forward. It took more than 6 hours for someone to come get us and it being autumn, we lost all daylight by the time we got down the mountain. We were still about 4hrs out from the Azumaya and we weren't confident of driving there in the dark on non-familar roads. While we were still on the mountain, we managed to call the staff of the Azumaya and with our limited command of Japanese, managed to tell them about our incident and apologise that we had to cancel our first night. We showed up the next day and to our utmost surprise, the staff of the Azumaya conveyed to us in gestures and simple Japanese that they were sorry we had to go through such a distressing incident and that they were upgrading us to a suite with a premium dinner set. There was even a kind, handwritten note in English from the young lady who took our call the day before, Miss Yuki, enquiring about our well-being after the incident. As most of the staff there can't understand or speak much English, Miss Yuki even carefully prepared typed out notes in English for us, introducing and explaining all the wonderful dishes we had at dinner. The room was superb, and so was the ensuite open-air onsen bath. Beds were infinitely comfy. Such kind, generous hospitality absolutely warmed our hearts and will never be forgotten. We got to experience truly great Japanese hospitality, and we will DEFINITELY highly recommend anyone travelling to the Kaminoyama area to stay at the Azumaya. Thank you to Miss Yuki and the rest of the staff at the Azumaya for making our stay there a truly unforgettable one.
Small onsen town with unique snow monsters. Come for the skiing, stay for the baths! Numerous ski lifts and hot spring baths around town. Very enjoyable to go up the mountain and jump in a hot spring afterwards.
Is a nice and relax trip. We enjoyed the open air onsen, skiing at the resort. With marvellous snow fall. Best of all, the lovely couple from Pension apple. They took care of us, more than a hotel guest. We chit chat and had really good time with laughter. You feel like a member rather than a guest. My 2 teens also enjoyed and felt this the best place.
