Nara is a city full of temples and shrines. The highlights are Todaiji Temple which has the oldest wooden structure in the world and Kofukuji Temple. You could also visit Nara National Museum and Isuien Gardens but I didn’t have enough time. Walking around the temples and shrines and the parks, makes you feel very relaxed in this peaceful environment. The deer are friendly and in abundance. You should spend time admiring the traditional buildings of the Naramachi neighbourhood as well visiting Higashimuki Street for souvenirs. A stay in Nara in incomplete unless you eat Nara sushi which is wrapped in persimmon leaf. In the evening, I would recommend going to Bar Chillout. It’s a small bar around the city centre on the second floor of a building. Here you can easily chat with the locals. The bar owner Minami san speaks good English and was very happy to talk. Before coronavirus, he frequently had foreign customers. There are many decent hotels and hostels around the station and the city centre to stay in.
It’s a lovely place for a family trip. It has beautiful gardens and nature. And children really enjoy seeing deer. The area around Nara parkland has a lot of shops and restaurants and everything is in walking distance. We went in February - it was a little cold and we experienced snowfall while seeing blossoming ume flowers. It was really beautiful.
Deer park has many deers, be firm with the aggressive ones but don't hit them, that's an offense and you could be fined. Surrounding the deer park were many other parks May - June has Wisteria blooms for viewing.
Everything you need to visit is within walking distance from each other. The deer are adorable (but can be a little aggressive in getting food from you) and the nature is beautiful and healing. The temples are amazing.
Great place to visit, lovely temples, some of which are very busy and filled with tourists and others that are hidden away and tranquil. The bowing dear are a must see in my opinion. I wouldn't aggree with those that say they're aggressive, they want food from you but the worst we had was one who followed us for a few minutes before giving up, be cautious if you have kids but otherwise they're lovely and if you show them your empty hands they'll back off. Knife shop at the top of hill in the dear park is awesome, they make knives using the original technique of sword making. We enjoyed the local food places and a kareoke bar. We found that not many places had English speakers but they were very friendly and didn't matter.
A few hotels near JR Nara station n very convenient. Nara deer park with beautiful deers. Do buy some shika senbei (rice crackers) to feed them. While shopping at the shopping mall, do check or compare prices. There’s a shop call “COTO” which sell things more expensive than others. Would avoid it. Lots of restaurants around.
I have travelled all over the world and have stayed at a vast number of accommodations over the years, and I cannot recommend this hotel and the tourist information office inside more highly, as can be attested to by my numerous long-term stays there. Not only is the location ideal, the staff are extremely helpful and do everything they can to meet your needs and make your stay and time in Nara an amazing experience. To everyone at the Nara Visitor Center and Inn, thanks again for a wonderful stay!!!
Comfortable Japanese small hotel room with everything I need. Comfortable bed, ensuite bathroom, mini fridge, fresh coffee downstairs, pleasant staff, spotlessly clean, nicely decorated and all at a great price. And let's not forget that is an easy walk to Todaiji and all of the deer. Plus it's a two minute walk to great restaurants, bus and train stops, and even just a few minutes walk to to grocery stores! All of this in the lovely town of Nara!
The perfect location makes everything easier! 1 minute walk from JR Nara and bus stops towards hot tourism spot, and there’s a big super market, food court, includes ramen, bento ,famous Japanese shop,Lawson downstairs, organic restaurant. Hotel service is good as well, staff was very helpful and friendly, the facilities are great and modern,it’s suitable for both travelers and business people!
Nara
Staff was very helpful explaining about the areas with night lights when we said we wanted to take a walk after dinner. We were quite picky about food and need some customization. The hotel addressed everything for us (food is also super tasty and of large quantity). The room is large and clean. Hot bath is very clean too. I hope covid can be over soon and this hotel can get more tourists
Nara
The best part is the location of this property. It is totally value for money. The hotel is simple and enough and has everything to host you, like kitchen, common bath and washroom, nice room with a view of the deers, and a warm staff. Perfect place to feel calming influence of Nara! Nara trip is best done from this place because everything is within walking distance.
The staff are very hospitable, the manager was amazing and very supportive. A lovely person. The hotel has special treats like noddles in the evening and ice poles and complementary milk drinks. The onsen was great with outdoor hot and indoor hot and cold. The rooms were very high standard and clean. One of the best hotels we have stayed in.
Eco friendly hotel! Please help them prosper so that other hotels would follow. Besides feeling good about saving the planet, LOHAS Super Hotel is the best value for money in Nara area. Everything is new and staff are super friendly. The free breakfast is one of best I ever got in hotels.
The hotel room was superb, and it offered an array of amenities that made our stay in Nara easier. We enjoyed having a bathing area in the hotel after a long day of walking around and taking in the sites.
Nara
Beautiful authentic Japanese feeling House! Good location between Nara Station and most sights, close to lots of restaurants and shops. The room (4bed female dorm) was very nice and spacious with a sink.
Location is next to Nara Park - deers just in front of the location. Close to some main Shrines/Temple. Flexible communication and support by staff.
Small hotel with very good facilities like stay at home. Not far from Todai3and Kintetsu-Nara station. Have some local grocery store close to here.
We were able to check in early. Location is near Nara Park and restaurants and shopping. We received an extra set of towels.
Amazing location for seeing everything in the Nara area. Great hotel, very comfortable with additional facilities
Clean and very friendly hotel, great location near both train stations of Nara. Good breakfast.
great location near Nara Park at reasonable price, spacious room, nice restaurant for dinner
A grand hotel steeped in history in a lovely park location. The staff were very attentive and helpful. We had a Hollywood twin in the ‘new’ building which was a good size, with plenty of room, storage space and a nice big bathroom with bath. Beds were very comfortable. We had the breakfast buffet for convenience, which was really good. Really good to have the shuttle that goes to the both the JR and Kinetsu stations.
It was just right next to the station❣️
Enjoyable experience. My only critisism is that the room smelled very bad of old smoke and some of the hotel areas were a bit run down. Example - water stains on ceiling etc
The hotel is not so far from Kintetsu Nara, just a few minutes. It's very clean and spacious. The staff was super friendly.
Everything was lovely and elegant. Spa bath with tv was a bit of a treat.
