Location is fantastic, a few minutes walk to the yui ropeway and straight to the ski area. Also in town so walking distance to restaurants and cafes. Service was so good, the staff even offered us use of their wellingtons over our regular shoes on a particularly heavy snowy day, which was excellent advice as the snow was deep enough that we would have got all wet. Onsen also beautiful after a long day. Will definitely stay again. Arigato gozaimasu!!!

I love Nozawa so a bias review. Great variety of ski terrain, and some of my favourite between the tree skiing, with generally a good mix of fresh powder days and bluebird days (I say this after 4 separate trips over 8 years). The village still feels quite Japanese, even though tourist numbers have definitely increased over this time, with lots of tiny eateries tucked away and lots of local specialty food options (soba noodles and steamed buns to name two must haves). The community onsens are charming and definitely there for the locals, so it feels a provelege to be able to experience them.
Fabulous snow resort town. Welcoming locals, beautiful eateries, still cultural Japan with some western elements arriving. The snow resort is amazing. The ease of travel on Shinkansen from Tokyo is wonderful too. Loved the local onsens. We will be back Nozawa. Great western food is good at Tanuki and Genki burgers. Great traditional Japanese breakfasts at your inn (recommend Togoro highly) and hot buns from St Anton’s Haus. Loved visiting the snow monkey park.
We stayed four nights which was long enough for me, but my sons would have liked to stay longer. Be warned that many restaurants require reservations. Stunning scenery, cute village, good food and onsens. I was unsure about using public onsens as I have many tattoos, but I asked to tattoed Japanese people I met, and they said it's fine because the onsens are public. I bathed in the onsens without any issues.
We are a family of four with kids 14 and 11 went there for skiing and culture in January for 4 nights. We were not disappointed. It certainly snowed. Maybe too much. It was hard to find clear conditions to just enjoy. We stayed in an excellent Ryokan Tobei about 10 minutes walk from main gondola. A bit of work at the beginning of each day that we didn't mind. The village is traditional with many eating options in small places. It was very busy and we struggled sometimes to find tables in restaurants. Recommend planning ahead a little when eating. We went to a private hot spring facility Sparena twice which was a lovely way to end each day.
Nozawa Onsen is magic in winter: Skiing, lovely strolling through the little town, a great blend of authentic old-style Japanese shops and resto's and new restaurants serving excellent food. It accomodates international travellers without losing it's soul. The landscape is sublime and the mix of ice cold snowy landscape with hot springs is simply magic.
These apartments are well located near the best of the villages onsen. The rooms are newly constructed to a very high standard and are very comfortable. The property also has a gym, free laundry, reading/business room and onsen style baths. Its hard to find anything to criticize in this excellent property. I hope we can return again soon.
Nozawa Onsen
The hotel is well located and the front desk staff gave me great info before I arrived about how to get to the hotel, and even made some dinner reservations for me before I arrived. The room was very comfortable, spacious and had a great view of the mountain. We loved the hot chocolate and pastry in the afternoon, after skiing.
Nozawa Onsen
The hotel is clean and the rooms have nice Japanese feel to them. The bed in my room was super comfortable. The traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious and a little bit different every day. The host was friendly and helpful (she advised about the best restaurants, onsens etc., gave several discount coupons).
Nozawa Onsen
excellent location! short walk to the ski lifts and to town center. Public Onsen across the street. breakfast each morning was great! Staff was extremely polite and very helpful. I come to Nozawa Onsen fairly often and for this price I have to say this was my favorite stay.
Nozawa Onsen
While it is located about 1.5km from the village, it’s close to a shuttle bus to the resort. The hotel also offers a free lift and pickup around the town if you ask. The room was spacious and clean with nice view to the mountains. Toilet was clean with some amenities.
Nozawa Onsen
Good location if you want to be in town center. 15min walk to ski area. Decent Japanese style hotel, could do with a bit of refurbishment but was clean. Onsen was ok, one bath, pretty hot fit around 6 people until start playing footsie. Staff were welcoming, friendly.
Proximity to the ski lifts Excellent Breakfast Location was absolutely stunning. Very helpful staff Lots of places to chill in the hotel Fireplace !!! Help with the luggage from and to the bus stop. Late night pickup from the village
Nozawa Onsen
Great location near the centre of town. Walking distance to both Yu road and Nagasaka Gondala. Decent breakfast (recommend the Japanese option). Nice clean rooms. Beautiful onsen.

Nozawa Onsen
It was a great location for accessing the ski slopes. the owners were kind and helpful. Everything was spotlessly clean and the breakfast (Japanese style) was exceptional.
Nozawa Onsen
Location was good. Was handy to be able to use the facilities (Onsen) from the View Hotel across the road. Air-conditioner was good to keep room warm.
