Located in Odawara and with Odawara Castle reachable within 8 km, Hakone Pacific provides express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a bar. The views are AMAZING! The host actually apologized for giving us an ocean view and not a mountain view--how could anyone be upset with that? You can see the sunrise and sea for miles.
Set in Odawara, Kanagawa region, Plum Hostel is situated 1.1 km from Odawara Castle. Featuring a shared lounge, the 2-star hostel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a shared bathroom.... The location was a few minutes walk from Odawara station although it is not too far. Also about 20 minutes walk to Odawara castle. I was immediately greeted by a staff that spoke proficient english, and that of course made my experience here quite easy and convenient. Washrooms are clean and and beds are quite comfy. If you are looking for an immediate place to eat, I would suggest this neat little Cafe (called Noncafe) which is just next door below. The place has this nice jazzy atmosphere and a provides hearty meal for a fair price. This was a truly convenient experience overall, thanks to the staff and their professional ability to accommodate to both foreign and local customers.
Situated in Odawara, Guesthouse LARGO features accommodation with a balcony and free WiFi. The property has sea views, plus is 2.2 km from Odawara Castle. Wow. What a great place. The upstairs bedroom was outstanding. Along with the facilities. I will certainly be keeping this gem at the back of my mind for the next trip. It was easy to find, everything was clearly explained. Clean, neat and heaps of room. Thank you for allowing us to stay.

Martians Hotel Tomizu in Odawara provides accommodation with free WiFi, 9 km from Odawara Castle. + Quiet and peaceful neighborhood + Close to the shop and train station + Fully equipped, beautiful and clean apartment + Amazing hosts Traditional Japanese interior makes this place a perfect choice for someone who does not only want to travel but also want to experience a bit of culture. Overall it's an amazing place to stay in for few days or longer in Odawara.
We arrived on a very wet day and had planned this as a lay over, rather than deal with the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. Wish we could have spent more time. So close to the JR line which just opens up options. But exploring the fishing port, the castle and the wider region would have been great. The accomodation was excellent for a family.
Decent place to go with kid. I never been to any Japanese castle before, so it was a new and nice experience. They have a park for kid/toddler with some rides(not exclusive). My son enjoyed that, too.
Odawara is a good transport hub if you planning to move around Hakone. There is an interesting food street beside the station, and it’s more local than touristy. The Hakone Free Pass is a good value for money n saves time queuing for tickets.
The location was a bit hard to find but that's on my fault cos I didn't check the address correctly. We stayed there just for a stopover before we moved on to Hakone. The rooms are traditional, spacious and quiet as well. It's not a fancy place but you'd definitely get an old vibe from old days. We love the ambiance and the price is reasonable as well. I don't really understand why there are a few negative feedback considering you are only paying a small amount and it's a decent little place. Would stay there again.
You can read up about the history of Odawara. However, I wished at least one floor had been preserved in its pre-renovation stage so that visitors could have a feel of how it was like hundreds of years ago.
Short train ride to Hakone which was beautiful. The Hakone round course is a must do! Everything was easily available at Odawara, from the multitude of eateries, onsens, cafes, izakayas(bars), karaoke, shopping, antique shops, souvenir shops. None of the shops would even dream of overcharging tourists! Must try experience is the public baths (onsen).

Very nice touch with the ryokan. We really appreciate the old style "Showa Era" atmosphere! The "Taisho" and the Yumi-san's great accommodations were fantastic. You can't get this kind of RYOKAN anymore in this modern times.
