Because I got in late from doing the big bike ride over from Imabari, I was left with little time or energy to explore Onomichi. However, I did do some of the temple tour in the morning and it was excellent. I recommend taking the "ropeway" (I'd call it a cable car) to the hilltop and work your way down. Onomichi was a quiet town with lots of small alleys to explore. One full day should be enough to get a taste of the location for younger travelers. Such a beautiful little town with really friendly residents who genuinely welcome and enjoy travellers. Lots to do in the day, a bit quite at night though so don’t rely on there being restaurants open for dinner. I loved Onomichi. I only spent one day and one night there before beginning the Shimanami Kaido cycle, but I wish I’d stayed and relaxed a bit more is this wonderful town. The temple walk was worth the views, cat alley was unique and worth seeing, I loved just grabbing a coffee or pastry and sitting on the pier to enjoy the view.Guest review byNinaIreland - 10.0
Expect lot's of walking.
Expect lot's of walking. There is something to see around every corner - or up every hill. Weather permitting it is a must. Not sure it would be much fun in the rain, unless you love shopping and eating sushi :-)Guest review byAnonymous

The kids loved it! It was very comfortable and convenient. Location - setoda is a beautiful town and was just the right distance for our kids to ride from onomichi. You can also catch a boat ride back to onomichi if people have sore bums on day 2! Meals - The hotel has a restaurant downstairs which was excellent. Good-sized room, really nice restaurant (with a nice selection of Japanese or western food and a really good breakfast). And staff were really helpful, recommending where to hire a bike and how to get around.
