The building and carpentry were first class. Everything was impeccably clean, it had the fragrance of cedar. Location was great, in a quiet neighborhood next to an expansive park. There was a huge bath, projector, hi-fi. There is a private garden. One could not ask for more.

Matsue is outside of the over-touristed parts of Japan and well worth a visit. Staying at Emi's beautifully restored traditional house was a highlight for us, especially as our host was so kind, welcoming and helpful.
