A 20-minute drive from Snow Monkey Park and located right in front of Shiga Kogen Ski Resort, the entirely non-smoking Aspen Shiga boasts an indoor hot-spring bath, a fireplace lounge and a breakfast... This is an amazing place right on the slopes of Shiga Kogen. The family that runs this place is wonderful, the food is delicious, and the ski gear and passes cheaper then elsewhere. We had a wonderful time and would come back again in a minute.
Just a 2-minute walk from the Maruike ski resort, Hotel Shirakabaso Shigakogen offers indoor and outdoor hot spring baths, rooms with free Wi-Fi and a launderette. The staff are incredible. So sweet, they go above and beyond. Even though the hotel is just a 2 minute walk from the bus stop, the owner came in the van to pick us up so we didn't have to carry our bags - so kind of him. I really can't thank the staff enough, they made our stay very memorable! The food is also fantastic and of an extremely high standard. We tried so many new and different things at breakfast and dinner which we loved. The outdoor onsen is great too.
Only a 1-minute walk from Takamagahara Mammoth Ski Resort, Hotel Takimoto offers Japanese and Western-style rooms with mountain views. Hotel has a great location near ski lifts and a very good ramen lunch time cafe/canteen. The meals at the hotel were very good and the catering staff were excellent. We stayed in a western room which was functional but dated. The common area near the fire place is lovely and a great area to socialise. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
Located in Yamanouchi, within 19 km of Jigokudani Monkey Park and 31 km of Ryuoo Ski Park, Shiga Grand Hotel provides accommodation with ski-to-door access and free WiFi throughout the property as... Faded 1980’ grandeur , unrenovated. Carpet faded and sheets thin. Good location
Offering ski-to-door access from the Sun Valley Ski Resort, Shiga Kogen Hotel Shiga Sunvalley features natural hot spring baths, a sauna and karaoke facilities. The staff were excellent and went that extra mile to ensure our stay was fun, yummy and comfortable. Lots of extras for example letting us know about discounts available and transporting our luggage to the bus stop upon departure...the unexpected 'extras'!
Located 1700 metres above sea level, Hotel Japan Shiga is situated within Shiga Kogen in Joshinetsu Kogen National Park, 100 metres from Shiga Kogen Ski Resort’s Ichinose Family Ski Area where guests... Great breakfast, great location, great music themed memorabilia
Located right in front of the ski lifts to Shiga Kogen Sun Valley Ski Resort, Villa Alpen offers simple rooms with mountain views. You can put on your skis just outside the door and the lift is only 50 meters away. Very friendly staff and everyone speaks English! Great location for exploring all of Shigakogen area. Ken can tell you all about the mountain and how to get from a to b, (sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge) Food was great. Didn't want to leave and will definitely miss the view from the window. 😉
Situated in Yamanouchi, 19 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park, Hotel Mount Shiga features accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a garden and ski-to-door access. Stayed in the traditional room which we were apprehensive about but it was great. Onsens were communal but split male/female. The hotel was great value for money and everything about it exceeded our expectations. The owner was pleasant and extremely helpful. My wife left her phone on the bus on our journey to Shiga Kogen. The hotel owner helped us retrieve the phone by organising for it to be on the bus to Nagano on the exact date and time we departed. The traditional breakfast was great and had lots of variety. The owner even referred to me as Séamus-san, which was an added bonus!!!!! A1 10/10
Situated in Yamanouchi in the Nagano Region, 5 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park, Hotel Ichinose boasts ski-to-door access and a ski school. We loved everything about this hotel. Location was perfect for skiing. The staff were absolutely lovely. Breakfast was delicious and the evening meals we had twice were also great. The Onsen was brilliant and just what we needed after skiing.
Shiga Kogen is big ski area, with nice slopes and for one tickets you can move around and try out all the different slopes. However, in the evening it is really difficult to find food and as it is a typical Japanese area, no bars etc. Some of the hotels are really far from the villages. The hotels are old from the olympic time, so not much renewal.
