Calm ocean breeze, slow unrushed lifestyle, excellent food. favorite place was at Serena beach where had my meals at the hotel. It is relatively easy to get around Mombasa if one knows the landmarks. some great activities for friends like mine include boat riding, sea fishing and swimming.

I enjoyed going to the Wild Waters.
I enjoyed going to the Wild Waters. The experience there was just amazing. The slides were the most fascinating part of it. The waters are fresh and not salty. I would recommend this place over and over to anybody coming to Mombasa, especially with kids.

I live in Mombasa and love it …. most of the time.
I live in Mombasa and love it …. most of the time. Beaches are nice , people are friendly, weather is perfect (if you like it hot) and lots of beautiful little beaches along Mtwapa creek. Lots of great places to eat - try Nic’s Bar and Grill on Marina Beach. Plenty of places to enjoy water sports, boat rides and snorkeling. Only real downside is the god botherers who seem to think god will hear them better if they use sound amplifying equipment. Sundays are a nightmare if you just want peace and quiet.

Mombasa city itself was a typical 3rd world city - noisy, crowded, with no street appeal. I only passed through so didn't explore.
However, all along the coast were the resorts - varying from OK to extravagant.
The beach would rival the Maldives if it weren't for the thick heaps of seaweed - only cleaned near the higher end resorts.
Well worth the money are the safaris - even the half days trips.
Although everywhere is iron bars and heavy gates, there was no actual sense of danger and people were very friendly.
Weather was consistent - hot and sunny.
Food varied from inexpensive bland to very expensive international fare.
Unfortunately where I stayed (Shanzu) there were no street venders, so I didn't have a chance to try them.

Mombasa - totally wasted time. Unsafe and nothing to see.
Mombasa - totally wasted time. Unsafe and nothing to see. A family from Europe would NEVER stroll around without guards in the city center. The whole city is totally worn out, garbage everywhere and very depressing.

Spacious and well-equipped apartment, with the fresh sea breeze coming through the windows.
The area is one of the safest in Mombasa and the condo security controls access tightly.
Host (hi Musa!) was responsive, attentive and helpful, going the extra mile for us. He gave us great advice and made sure that we were safe and had everything we needed.
I would especially recommend this apartment to a group of friends driving to Mombasa for a beach getaway.
I really enjoyed my stay, very well located in one of the best beaches around Mombasa, Bamburi beach. The hotel is very basic, you get what you pay for. Only two rooms ( apartments) have sea view all the others are facing the entrance or the way to the pool or a roof ( my case). Breakfast can be better and the staff are great.Rooms are outdated but comfortable.
The hotel is well accessible to many areas including the CBD,airport and going to the beach areas. The room size was big and spacious with a very beautiful creek view 😍. The hotel staffs are really amazing and friendly. The housekeeping staff incharge of cleaning my room Hassan, the guy did a very good job and cheers.
Great location rvery close to the old town, possible to walk to all the main sights of Mombasa. The hotel is clean and well maintained for the local standard, AC was working fine which is a must seeing how hot and humid is Mombasa! They also do long term baggage depositi, which is very nice in some occasions.
Breakfast was fantastic and very healthy. The hotel offered very good view and accessibility to the beach. I had the best beach experience from this hotel so far. The staff were very friendly and understanding.
