Everyone will seem friendly at first, then try to sell you something if you engage in conversation. The food is incredible, the sights are beautiful, and it is a great time just walking around or grabbing a cheap tuktuk on Grab to head to the temples. But be prepared to constantly have to fend off guys trying to sell you stuff or asking for cash when you're on your own walking about. Not a big deal at all, just something to be aware of.
Very easy to get around with Tuk Tuk. I’m impressed with all the people we met, the English was very good so communicating was easy. We stayed at Plantation Urban resort and loved the ambiance. Great way to wind down after a busy day in the city. Killing fields and the prison is a must when in Phnom Penh, but what I felt was underrated was the Phnom Tamao Wildlife rescue center. We spent half day there and loved it. For cocktail and views, eclipse sky bar is a gem and for LGBTQ+ people and alleys, space hair salon and bar is the best gay bar. The concept is so cool. In daytime it is a hair salon and in the evening, the salon is transferred to a bar. They have different themes everyday and the community felt like home. Everyone so friendly and fun!! Definitely worth a night there!!
Beautiful city with a lot of history. Unfortunately, the National Palace and the Silver Pagoda are still closed, but there are many museums and activities to do around. There are many tours that might work as well. Tuol Seng Museum, even though is rough, is definitely a must.
Phnom Penh has two ways to look at the City. If to go for better hotel rooms then the cost for room stay and food and travel. If to go with budget hotels then can be managed at a low cost and within a USD 1000 for a 15 day stay. However if one is not much keen on architecture, museums or cruises then there is not much to do except relax and visit the markets to know the culture by interaction with the people here Cambodia is of three parts, Phnom Penh is the commercial hub and the people here only interact if there is an opportunity to make money otherwise will avoid to interact or assist North & Siem Reap is the country side where the people are more helpful and interactive Down South - Kampot & Sihanoukville is again more commercialised and even though this is small town there is the essence of USD here and a major Chinese influence The industries are more into garment manufacturing, road construction, construction material supplies, auto dealerships, auto spare parts and some small scale steel industries.
Its a great place to see. I walked from the border about 10km to see the farm life and it was something you don't see in SE Asia. The capitol is a full on city you'd expect in a western country but for a tourist holds the same. There isn't to much to do one Temple starts to turn into 3 or 4 and look the same (No disrespect intended). Talking with other travellers while there came to the conclusion of unless your a teacher or love to drink daily you will get bored pretty quick. I stayed for about 2 weeks on a 30 day visa, I just couldn't justify the full trip. The cost of tourist life is rather expensive as well, I was surprised on this part. Thailand and Vietnam seemed more reasonable on long term tourist visiting.
Phnom Penh can be used as a hub to travel across Cambodia being the center of the country and also for relaxation however the Palace was closed which was a pity as there are not much of excursion choices the city has. The people here are simple folk however due to commercialisation only money matters and if there is no value transaction in monetary terms then the common answer you would get is "I don't know". It is advisable to use a good net on the mobile and have Grab & Passapp on the mobile otherwise would be charged 4 times of the tuk tuk or taxi charges. One can go around the market and try the local and the French Restaurants which are in plenty. To stay in the center of the city otherwise the cost of travel will hit the wallet big time.
All around it was the best hotel that we have stayed at in Cambodia. Because they had a room available and cleaned, they let us check in early after we arrived to Phnom Penh by bus. The staff was ever so helpful. The location is very close the night market, the bus station and other attractions. We will definitely be staying there in the future since we travel to Phnom Penh a lot. The room was a 2 story suite with 2 beds on each floor. Also with 2 bathr6. It was perfect for my husband and 3 kids.
-Firstly, Angkor International Hotel or Angor Riverside have a good location. Right in center of PhnomPenh which very convenient for sightseeing and tours. - Second, the staff was really nice. Especially Alecra( if I remembered her name correct). She was really helpful and have great personality. Talked to her was really joining. - Highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a hotel to stay in PhnomPenh.
I stayed at Yunfan with a group of 6 people, very clean and very welcoming. The hotel is brand new and just “soft open” so it wasn’t completely ready, but staff were friendly and professional, food was good, and the room offers some of the best views of the city. The hotel is also in within walking distance to the city center. We had a very nice stay here & would highly recommend Yunfan Hotel.
This has been the best hotel I stayed at during my 2 weeks visit to Cambodia. The staff was extremely helpfull, the room is very cousy with all the facilities you need, the room was extremly clean and fresh with nice view to the local neighbourhood. . As the windows didnt face the street it was very quite as well. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars around.
The View is a home way from home! Let me begin by saying it is clean for Cambodia. We could rest at ease without any worries and could relax. Wifi, T.V, pool, in a busy city give you the feeling you are somewhere else after a long day of work or sightseeing. This is great place for a long or short stay. We are always happy to stay here!
I have stayed at the Pavilion before. I direct an NGO called the Harpswell Foundation, whose mission is to empower a new generation of women leaders in Cambodia and other ASEAN countries. My staff and I now stay at the Pavilion. It is a charming hotel, with lots of old world atmosphere, a competent staff, and good food.
Everything. The staff were exceptionally kind and very attentive. The bed was comfortable, room was very clean, bathroom great, and the location spot on. We loved the breakfast. Very tasty food indeed! A great place to stay; highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Cambodia’s capital.
The best hotel in Phnom Penh city A lot of greenery surrounding by the Hotel design staff are very friendly, they have very good Qym at top floor view the river my room apsara deluxe with very nice setup hot water working during well during thank you complementary 15 minute massage
The staff was very friendly. The hotel paid extra attention to disinfection and sanitation, which was much needed during the COVID19 period. The location was safe and convenient. Overall satisfying, I will recommend it to who is looking for a place to stay in Phnom Penh.
It was a lovely hotel in a great location. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was great to be able to relax by the pool after a day out in the heat of Phnom Penh. The breakfast was also delicious. I have booked to stay again before I leave Cambodia.
The staff were very helpful especially securing meals when the hotel restaurant was closed after breakfast. Excellent location in the heart of the city centre and value for your money.
We did not expect to swim in Cambodia, but the swimming pool and jacuzzi in this hotel are so clean and beautiful!
Comfortable room, friendly staff, good service. If I go to Cambodia again, I will stay this hotel.
So far, its the cleanest hotel i have stayed in Cambodia. Not dusty. No crickets. Well maintained.
The best hotel that we had in Cambodia, clean and nice, with good food and nice staff
Great location, near river and close to good reasturants and bars, rooms very large , great pools to swim, jacuzzi on the roof the best, staff were great we had a late flight , they stored our suitcases , let us relax by pool , would reccomend, we defenetly go back when in pp
