We were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel. The rooms were large and modern which gave it a feel of an upscale chain hotel. Daily breakfast was very tasty. Wifi and A/C worked well.

Nice to see the capital, but it is very underdeveloped as a tourist / cultural area. Mostly bars and restaurants, but be careful of some bars and prostitution unless that's your thing. Two or Three nights is more than enough, some of the sights are disappointing up close. New big chain hotels are being developed for this area. Night market is interesting, mostly clothing.

The Cope visitor centre gave a great insight into the recent history. The Pha That Luang - golden temple and laying down Buddha, Patuxay( Vientiane version of the Arc de triomphe) are definitely worth a visit. The night market was also an entertaining experience. Tuk tuks are easy to come by and the best cheap form of transport in the heat. Taxi from the airport is organised inside and on a set fee so no need to prebook.

It is a huge capital city but where I stayed was central to everywhere, night market, food markets. There are also more 'western' style places to eat. I walked everywhere and it was hot but lots of places to stop for water etc.

Laid back, not so many attractions, surpresingly good night life around the night markets, even if it stops around 11 PM. Nice locals willing to have dinner and fun (and very little competion of other turists)

Substandard airport - chipped and bubbled footpath. Avoid flights to Laos as short trip across Friendship Bridge is more pleasant. On departure - somehow registration on international flights was not starting 3 hours before flight. For me, Laos was and still is only suitable just for overnight stay to renew Thai Visa on Arrival back. City itself - dusty, dirty and locals do not comply with car parking rules whatsoever. As I personally remember several employees from Laotian Embassy as next building to my pharmacy 106 in Moscow (ussr 1982-1985), backyard mentality of public servants remained with hardly any change. Ordinary people on the street were some friendly and some without knowledge of any basic foreign language.

An elegant and beautiful city with lovely buildings reflecting a fusion of Laos and French architecture, open spaces, parks and gardens including the famous "Buddha Park", great cafes and restaurants, beautiful Buddhist wats and a grand Stupa, and the iconic Patuxai memorial. No visit to Vientiane would be complete without a visit to the Centre for Medical Rehabilitation (CMR) who work with The Cooperative Orthotic and Prosthetic Enterprise (COPE).

I know the price is cheap but we have paid less than this elsewhere in Laos and the quality has been far higher. we booked online and our room was already booked when we arrived. we were told we were upgraded to a bigger room. this was kind and we now had a room with three beds in it. the air con worked and the bed despite having a mattress like wood was pretty comfortable and we slept well. the location is really good and the staff are very friendly.

Stayed here for our last night in Laos, and was fantastic. Right near the river and all the restaurants along the river. A bit further out but still close to everything. New hotel so it is very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Vientiane. It has a small pool and breakfast is cooked fresh off menu.
