This might just be my favourite resort on the south coast of Sri Lanka. It was great value for money, the rooms were spacious and very clean. I slept amazingly during my stay as the bed was very comfortable. The manager and staff were friendly and very helpful with giving me recommendations and booking me tuktuks into town. I work online so the plus was the hotel had fast internet and good coffee. I’ll definitely be back at Terra.

The decor was beautiful, the staff were very friendly, the location was quiet and peaceful without being remote, and everything was very clean. The included breakfast was also extremely generous (cakes, omelette, juice, coffee, hoppers, all served at once like a big spread).

I had an amazing stay at Hotel Kabalana! Special thanks to Ms. Sachi, Guest Relations Officer, and Ms. Kanchana, Front Relations Manager, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The entire staff were super friendly and helpful, service was quick and efficient, the food was great and well served by the staff, and the cleanliness was excellent. We spent unforgettable days at Hotel SOLA with our family, and it truly felt like a little paradise. Nestled in the lush gjungle, the hotel offered a unique jungle atmosphere that we absolutely loved. The natural surroundings were full of life—monkeys, peacocks and plenty of different birds. It was peaceful, immersive, and deeply relaxing. The rooms are spacious, and beautifully designed with nature in mind. We especially appreciated the private balconies that looked out over the gardens. Our kids had the time of their lives! Between splashing around in the large pool, exploring the wide-open estate, and learning about all the local fruit trees, they were constantly engaged and excited. They even got to enjoy fresh coconuts picked straight from the trees, which was a total highlight. The food was awesome and a great combination of Sri Lankan and continental cuisine. The staff were warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. Their genuine hospitality made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Overall, Hotel SOLA exceeded all of our expectations. It’s a perfect destination for families looking to relax, reconnect with nature, and create lasting memories.

    We actually stayed in Kabalana which is just 25 min walk or...

    We actually stayed in Kabalana which is just 25 min walk or 5 min tuk tuk drive from Ahangama. It was the right decision as Ahangama was twice as busy and Kabalana beach was way better. Restaurants near us were really nice too and with the most famous night club in Sri Lanka called Trax round the corner!

    Ahangama is great for surfing, restaurants and social life! There are some weekly parties in town and a lot of solo travellers which can be met on social hostels, all around the town and at the beach. Loved Ahangama and it gave me very homey feeling, came back after seen the island a bit more!

    Definitely a quieter side of Sri Lanka, though its picking up and the nice part is if you have transport you can go visit the other beaches which are all in the same line and about 20-30 minutes distance within each other. There's a lot to do in terms if shopping some knick knacks, enjoying the food and some drinks as well. You just need to ask the locals where they go and what they like and you're bound to have a memorable time.

    Great place for expats working remotely, the city has a huge western influence with all the beach bars and shacks, it is not so much authentic, but if you want comfort it's a good place to start with. It is not yet packed with tourists and has many small guest houses and hotels, which is nice compared to Weligama's unathentic resorts.

    We would high recommend the company “BOAT SAFARI IN KOGGALA” as a fab & knowledgeable company to do a boat trip around Koggala lake. They were so knowledgeable about plants, wildlife and the islands. A fascinating 2 hrs. We would definitely recommend. They can organise tuk tuks to get you there and back also.

    The sea breeze villa was in the perfect position, tastefully decorated, close to town and close to a few good eats. They have 4 rooms and I stayed in the garden view room closest to the road. The room was huge, the bed comfy, great aircon and a fan. It has the best shower pressure and hot water that I’ve had in Sri Lanka and all situated with your own private beach. The staff were friendly and amazing, the breakfast filling and delicious, filtered water and wifi available. They also have security overnight.

    The room is nice and spacious and has airconditioning. We extended our stay twice! The host family is incredibly nice and helpful. They helped us get a scooter and treated us with coffee and sweets! Location is perfect, two minute ride to the beach and centrally located between Galle and Mirissa. The room is next to a school which you can hear in the morning. But with ear plugs it’s no bother. Would definitely stay again! This has been our best stay in the whole of Sri Lanka :)

    Unique serene location, striking aesthetic. Exceptional and consistent service. I spent in total 9 nights here and felt a deep connection with the beautiful unspoilt nature. Petar and Tijana who manage this hotel are truly remarkable with deep knowledge and love for Sri Lankan culture. Amazing yoga overlooking the lake with wonderful Maia. The beach, bars and surfing are a short walk away.

    Clean, spacious rooms. Luxury feel, and good AC. Lovely view from the rooftop. Hashan and the team were amazing, so attentive and welcoming. I really wanted to stay longer, but they were fully booked. Also got an amazing Sri Lankan breakfast catered to my allergies. I really enjoyed the Halapa 🙌🏼 thank you so much for a lovely stay!

    This was one of the best and most accomodating guest houses I have stayed in months in Sri Lanka, the host Kamal was fantastic and I would highly recommend this guest house for great value and a very comfortable stay in Ahangama
