A little is known about the architectural philosophy of the ancient Hela ( Sinhala/Sri Lankan) King's, which placed the palace at the center and surrounded it with Dagabas and Monasteries (Ruwnaweli Maha Seya, Mirisawetiya, Abhayagiriya, Jethawanaramaya, Isurumuniya, and most recently, Sanda Hiru Saya to commemorate the 2009 end of LTTE war) in a circular immediate periphery. Next came Botanical Gardens (eg. Mahamwna Uyana), then lakes at the edge before agricultural lands (paddy fields). I have just stayed for a day because I didn’t want to spent around 25 dollars for the ancient cite. But I have walked around and prayed in Siri Maha Bodhi Tree area which is a massive and fascinating place! I have visited some other places such as Isurumuni Royal Temple and even sat down in front of the meditation stone and meditated there for a bit and it’s a very chanting place to be!AAnonymous - Scored 8.08.0

1) No hot water in the shower.
1) No hot water in the shower. 2) A whirring / drilling noise that kept me up all night, perhaps coming from one of the hotel pumps / generators from above. When I enquired about this at reception I was told that “the hotel was full” and my questions as to what it could be were rebuffed with a “goodnight”. 3) There were no batteries in the remote for the tv. 4) Which didn’t make much difference as the tv didn’t work anyway when I swapped out the batteries for the air con. 5) The air con worked but didn’t turn down meaning that I had to constantly turn it on and off. 6) The swimming pool had safety issues in that the side of the pool had a suction hole which sucked people in if they got close. Thankfully it was only me that discovered it and not the kids. 7) our drivers quarters were full of cockroaches and he was asked to give up his fan for a “guest” half way through the night.Eggleton
