Loved the corner Room 201-beautiful views of beach to coconut hill to enjoy sunrise from the comfy chairs on balcony before heading down to beach. Good size and excellent air con. Bathroom great.

While the property was great. My experience was absolutely terrible. It was my birthday on October 15 and I was dining at the beach side at a place called Lava alongside other diners on tables laid out. I had all my belongings including my room keys on the table and out of nowhere the water level rose and came all the way to the table washing g away a lot of my belongings including my room keys. The restaurant team was very helpful and helped my find my belongings but unfortunately it was too quick and it was long gone.
This is where the disaster to my birthday trip starts. Number 1 this so called hotel has nota a soul to help you at night should there be any problem you face. Their office shuts and the contact number mentioned on any public website goes unanswered. There is no guard, no employee and no way to seek help should you be stranded for whatever reason. In my case let’s call it a natural calamity which quite frankly was out of anyone’s control. I start calling them at 11pm once this happened and try till 12:30am after which I give up as there’s absolutely no response. Having no choice I try and rest it out in the garden space thinking I’ll have to spend the night there and wait for the staff to come in the morning.
The next morning instead of showing me empathy and compassion the only thing I’m told is that I have to pay 10,000 like for the lost key because that’s what the owner says to which I refuse because that’s not the cost of a hotel key and I insist to talk to the owner as the staff has no say in the process. I call him at least 10 times, leave him voice noted and he refuses to come on the phone really proving he understands absolutely nothing about hospitality as a business. Ishara the manager on site was very sweet throughout the process and helped me in whatever form she could. As he refused to come on the phone I told Ishara upon checking out that if she faces any issues to let me know and I will transfer her the money if it comes to that.

We loved Villa Atulya. It’s an impressive, stylish property with a great garden and pool facing the sea. Our room and the communal areas were large and comfortable, breakfast was very good as was dinner we had on both nights. Ishan and the staff were excellent - attentive without being overbearing. The beach outside is nice but too rocky to be usable and Marissa beach is a good 20 minute walk but, all in all, this is a small price to pay to stay a in such a lovely property

First time visit to Marissa so was open minded about what to expect. The beach and swimming was great. Our impression is that Marissa is a beach resort for the backpacker cohort of tourists, there is nothing else here other than the beach.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Marissa, and I can honestly say it was one of the best travel experiences I've ever had! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the incredible vibe of the place. The energy is relaxed, welcoming, and vibrant all at once. Whether you’re looking to unwind or explore, Marissa offers the perfect balance.
The food was absolutely delicious (we dined at W&D Restaurant a few times in the raw) – fresh, flavorful, and full of variety. I had some of the best Sri Lankan dishes here (fav rice and curry), with local ingredients that were both authentic and mouthwatering. Every meal felt like a special experience, especially when enjoyed with a view of the beautiful beach.
Speaking of the beach, wow! The shoreline in Marissa is absolutely stunning. Crystal-clear water, soft sand, and the most perfect sunsets – it’s the kind of place where you could easily spend all day by the sea, swimming, sunbathing, or just soaking in the natural beauty.
But what truly made my stay unforgettable were the people. The locals in Marissa are so warm, friendly, and genuinely happy to share their culture and hospitality. It felt like I was embraced by the community from the moment I arrived.
All in all, Marissa has everything you could want in a tropical getaway – gorgeous beaches, incredible food, amazing people, and an atmosphere that just makes you feel at home. If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable destination, I can't recommend Marissa enough. I will definitely be back! We stayed in the Beach & Bliss Marissa hotel nearby, best stay ever!

I took a long walk on the beach later in the evening, and it felt like paradise. There were many foreigners and visitors enjoying themselves and swimming in the sea. I noticed a lot of solo female travelers walking along the beach without any issues. The local beach boys were friendly, and there were plenty of beachside restaurants. The beach was clean and had no unpleasant smells.

I highly recommend the Sailors Mirissa Hotel for accommodation. It is located in the centre of Mirissa near several beaches. It takes ten minutes to get Cargill Food Cuty supermarket by walk. Two bus stations are located just opposite the central entrance to the Sailors Mirissa Hotel. Very beautiful view from the balcony to the Indian Ocean, palm trees and beaches. It takes just ten minutes by walk to reach popular Coconut Trees Hill, seven minutes - Turtle Beach and four minutes - the Parrot's Rock. Its host Mr. Kumara is very, very hospitable and warmly welcoming gentleman. The room is big with air conditioner, safe box, etc. You can easily reach Mirissa Harbour to watch whales and dolphins, Galle town and Fortress, Dondra Lighthouse and Sri Lankan the Southernmost point near it, temples with elephants. Very good!

Good but expensive (for Sri Lanka) tourist restaurants.
Good but expensive (for Sri Lanka) tourist restaurants. We went in off season which was great due to lack of other tourists and had surprisingly good weather (it rained properly once for an hour in 6 days). Seas a bit rough. The whole coast is a bit same same, the highlights were not really that impressive but we had a good time regardless. Recommend coming in the off season, unless you like a place jam packed with Russians in the peak months (lots of locals doing eye rolls). Glad we didn't go Whale Watching - expensive and rough seas apparently.

Location is incredible - right on the beach. Very close to Mirissa beach if you want some more excitement, and to fantastic restaurants (Zephyr in particular was great). Rooms fantastic, lovely food & cocktails in the hotel itself. Salt water pool was fab. Staff were generally lovely - organised an amazing snorkelling session for us where we got to swim with turtles.
Fantastic location set near the beach and the staff were very professional - the breakfast was exceptional and of high quality. Amith Gayashan (Head of House and the staff) were fantastic and ensured our stay at the villa was comfortable. Great levels of service provided and highly recommend this hotel if you stay in Mirissa, Sri Lanka.
The rooms were large, modern, spacious and very clean, my room looked out to the pool area surrounded by trees. The breakfast was great, the staff was helpful and the service was amazing. Love free coconut day! Its a short walk to Mirissa main beach 380m. Happy to return and stay here again, it is one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka.
The location was very close to seabeach. Extremely happy with the hospitality of the staff.
The lady like mother staying alone all day.
This location is the best in Mirissa.
We would prefer the same hotel when we plan next time.
The owner was also very helpful and we enjoyed the place.
A lovely, quiet hotel just outside the hustle and bustle of Mirissa. The pool was lovely and our room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and the location is a short tuktuk ride or walk (down the main road) away from the beach and other facilties.
