Beautiful old town. Friendly locals. Great views from St Peter tower (Petera baznica tornis), and floor 26 (skyline bar) of Radisson Blu Hotel. See library, occupation museum, Doma church, art nouveau buildings, etnographical museum (bus ride), seaside. Lido chain of restaurants is great for reasonably priced local food. Riga is a beautiful city and has a fascinating history (well Latvia does). The public transport was brilliant and the 5-day city ticket was excellent. It was noticeable that fri/sat evenings in the Old Town were getting somewhat raucous !
