The manager deserves a separate SHUKRAN for being such a great hostess and making our stay so comfortable and unforgettable. She organized a very special breakfast table for us, with fresh orange juice, crepes, and other treats! We will definitely come back to this hotel just so that we can get spoiled.

The staff is exceptionally caring and very professional. I watched Mustafa, Meryeme, and Kenza go out of their way to cater to all the guests.

Commonly spelled Fez, this city was Morocco’s capital during Middle Ages. The city was originally composed of two separate settlements located along the banks of the Jawhar River. Madinat Fas was founded in 789 by Idris I, while Al-'Aliya was founded by his son Idris II. Both towns grew autonomously until the Almoravids unified them in 1070 under the name ‘Fas’. A city that is historically rich and good. The old meddinah is everything in Fes. It's very beautiful. Other than that, there isn't much to do. I recommend staying for 2 days to 3 days most. It's more than enough. The locals are generally friendly. But the taxis are hard to get, especially if you are more than 2 people. They can even scam you and raise the fare. So be careful.

The Medina is the big draw here and one could spend a whole day just wandering amongst the many alleyways and shops taking in the atmosphere, sights and sounds. That said there is a lot of repetitive tourist tat and fruit\meat stalls. I was disappointed by the tannery, not much work going on outside (supposedly now all done inside) though there was hardly any smell. Surprisingly we were not hassled too much by any shop owner and haggling for a lower price was not aggressive. One day is enough in Fes and add another day for a trip out to Volubilis and you're done IMHO. We stayed 3 days in all and this was more than enough.

The local food is great and also the cafe' and music concerts. I attended the Fez Festival of Sufi Culture and World Spirituality, an unforgettable, rich experience.

The most amazing city.
The most amazing city. Have been a number of times, and love the fact that I’m still finding places that I haven’t seen before. Especially loved the local markets, seeing the production of the embroidery that embellishes the beautiful clothes, and the sensory overload of the smells, sights, sounds and overall vibe. Can’t wait to be back.

Fes is a ghastly tourist trap. Two nights will be plenty if you must go but if you skip it then the sky will not fall.Meknes and Sale( near Rabat) would be less touristed esp. Sale` .I could have spent more time walking in the Atlas mountains. The chance of becoming over saturated with all Moorish markets , tiled palaces and ancient Madrassas is high in Urban Morocco. Get off the beaten path !!
Fes is also very HOT. Don't go in the April to October period.
Book a half day guided walking tour of the old city and then get out!

This hotel was a life saver. We arrived in Fes when Morocco was having a major heatwave. Palais Shazam was a beautiful oasis. The staff are really sweet and helpful. We ate every night at the restaurant and food was good and reasonable priced. The room and bathroom were big and aircon worked well. Breakfast was good, and the location is amazing, right in the medina but backs onto a car park, so very easy to get to from the car park. The taxi dropped us outside the car park and 2 minutes later we were at Palais Shazam.

I thank all the Dar Arsama team for their warm welcome, for making me feel at home and taking such good care of me. Beautiful terrace with garden, delicious breakfast and the best dinner I've had in all of Morocco at a very good price. Everything very clean with a very personal and authentic decoration. The Riad is very quiet and it is also next to one of the main streets of the Medina, which makes visiting all the cultural sites of Fes very comfortable. If you get the chance book here at Dar Arsama.

What a wonderful property in the midst of the magical medina of Fes. This was one of my favourite stays in Morocco. Very much in the things, close to all sights. Hospitality beyond comparison. The room and courtyard were beautifully decorated. Breakfast was a generous spread. We were guided to a taxi stand to get to the railway station in the morning and at goodbye told 'Come back to your second home. You now have a second home in Fes'. How lovely is that.

Riad Fes Iline is very well located close to the Fes Medina. Also the breakfast is more than adequate and they can offer a good and competitively priced dinner plus wine and beer if desired. Transfers to and from the hotel are great and they can also arrange local tours if required. Staff are attentive and willing to provide whatever we needed. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

Great hospitality of all the staff and the owner. The house is located in a quiet area but in the heart of Medina, and still easy to find from the guidance. Shower was great, Breakfast was excellent and probably the best I have tasted among all the Riad stays i had in Morocco:). Will definitely come back here if I cross Fes again. Highly recommended!
