Outstanding with its charm of the fusion colonial era, La Residence features a spa and wellness centre as well as a restaurant. The property is a 10-minute walk from Shan Village of Hsipaw. The staff were super friendly here and extended our stay twice as I was sick without any question or...
I really enjoyed my stay, there was things to do and see regardless of the fact that it was off season and there weren't groups going trecking on the days of my stay. Borrowed a bike and headed off to the waterfall but missed the slip road. Locals directed me to another waterfall further along the road, where the Burmese go. Costs 500 to have bike looked after and 250 entry fee. Take your bathers, the 'new waterfall" pool was the best
Hsipaw is a lovely town with a fascinating history. Also good restaurants and a colourful market. We sadly missed seeing the old royal palace as it is only open 3-5 pm. But we did go trekking with Kham Lu of Shan State trekking and this was an amazing experience - the highlight of our month long tour of Myanmar. The scenery is stunning and the trip gave a very real immersion into the lives and work of the villagers working in remote villages and tea plantations. Fantastic adventure.
The boat ride in Dutta-waddy River is a great activity for families with children. The boats have no roofs/covers. Take sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses. You can stop at the confluence and hang around for a few minutes. If the children can walk, visiting the villages is worthed too for exposure to the countryside. *Make sure to wear a life jacket as the river at some points has a strong current.*
The town itself isn’t anything special but the surrounding area is stunning. I stayed at Kumudra Hill Hotel for one night and it was fantastic - away from the centre so quiet and picturesque with a lovely swimming pool to relax by.
Temperature / climate is better because of altitude. Still not yet developed. Interesting (extreme long) train ride from Mandelay to get there. We continued after Hsipaw to Lashio...thus place you better avoid the only good there is the airport to fly away!
Small but friendly and quite a lot to do. Great to bump into other travellers around town and on treks. Lots of good places to eat. Club Terrace, Mr Food, San, Mrs Popcorn, Pontoon cafe. Easy to rent bikes. Check out Ko Pee tours for treks etc. Good range from half a day to 2/3 days.
This place was really nice! The price for a private room is very very low (under 10 USD) and it includes a very comfortable bed with a very good shower. Water pressure is unlike everything else I have seen in Myanmar and also very hot water. This was very nice and refreshing. The staff were kind and also able to accommodate me in any way possible. They would also store my backpack for another night while I went trekking. Great place to stay when going to Hsipaw! The breakfast was amazing consisting of multiple freshly cooked dishes.
One of the things I look for in booking a hotel is how well they communicate before you arrive. Northern Land answered all of my questions and, at my request, sent a taxi 35 miles to Lashio to meet our flight at a time no other transportation was available. Breakfast was good and the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Note...Ask for a room not facing the street. That might be somewhat noisy.
The place runs like a well-oiled machine. I arrived along with dozens of others on the train and staff was quick and courteous throughout. Breakfast buffet is very good. Hikes booked through the onsite operator were a great value. Good location near the surprisingly cool sights in Hsipaw proper. I ended up staying a couple of extra days in Hsipaw and didn’t hesitate to extend my stay here
Great place, near the main street with a beautiful view of the whole area from the rooms and from the lovely roof. the staff is lovely and helpful with anything needed. The rooms are clean, comfortable and beautiful. The hotel is pretty new and its felt they put a lot of thought into all details. def. recommend :)
This is a fantastic hotel and great value. Beautiful building and pool / garden area. The rooms are huge and the beds are incredibly comfy. Great staff, free shuttles to town all day. Really good walking in the area and be sure to take Meewa with you (one of the dogs).
Beautiful hotel, spacious room, lovely staff. Breakfast is good and filling, service is excellent. They offer bicycles for hire, a detailed explanation of surrounding activities, will sort out bus and train tickets for you, and have trekking packages available.
Free train station pick up. Helpful and nice staff for information on trekking and transportation post visit. Great location and walking distance to many restaurants and sites (most of Hsipaw is walkable). Delicious breakfast buffet. Balcony common area.
The staff were so helpful and friendly, they helped us book onward travel from Hsipaw and gave us advice on visiting the area. The breakfast of Shan noodles was amazing! Probably the best I have had in Myanmar!
The staff was incredibly helpful and spoke amazing English. They were always very willing to help us and answer any of our questions. Definitely the best staff we’ve had in our time in Myanmar.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is just in the middle of the city.
Staff was amazing. Very kind. Great location in center of Hsipaw. Graeat breakfast and dinner.
