Hotel in Mandalay
Set in Mandalay, 800 metres from Sri Ganesh Temple, Dragon Phoenix Hotel offers accommodation with a restaurant, free private parking, a bar and a shared lounge. This new hotel (opened Oct 2019) might be the best value for the money of any hotel we've stayed in. Lots of helpful staff, good breakfast (with incredible view), and spotlessly clean, decent location. Perhaps the best way to judge a hotel is not with what goes right but with how they handle things that go wrong, on the second night the city held a once a year concert right outside (not the hotel's fault!), we were exhausted and couldn't take the noise and called to ask for a room change. Within a half hour of calling the front desk we were settled in our new room. Rooms are just as they appear on the website.

Crouded city but lovely people around you everywhere ! It's worth to visit especially for those who travel for good cuisines as well as reasonable prices hotels! Just one thing, transportation will not be as cheap as you experienced in Yangon! There are very few plaforms for those who would like to walk so it's a little bit at risk to walk!(It's worth to walk along the Royal Palace in the morning as well as in the evenings !)
Riding a moped was bloody hairy! Intersections are insane..... No joke it's a "free for all" some great sights to be had and enjoyed. Downside: The Non existent nightlife kills the vibe here... There is none! Everything is closing by 9pm! What tha????
Not an attractive city and our least favourite place in Myanmar. However for the short time we were there we enjoyed the places we visited. The climb up Mandalay hill and the visit to the long team bridge at sunset were good
Something must try: - View sunset on Mandalay hill and Ubein Bridge. - Get in Mandalay palace - Visit Mingun, many nice pic at there. - Inwa is ok, don't like horse cart seller, and sales cling. (horse cart seller said that 15k/2people, then they discount 26k Kyats for 2 horse cart, but after trip, the rider said must pay more for them)
Taxi to the top of Mandalay Hill and walk down the main stairway, at the bottom of the steps many of the main pagodas and ancient sights are within easy walking distance. With a reasonably early start these can be seen and still leave you time to go see the markets, we took a tuk-tuk to the Jad market and walked all the way back to the Palace area via the central market, wonderfully interesting and you get a real feeling for the city by working through all the commercial areas. On the second day we took a tour out to Amarapura, Sagaing, Mingun, Ava or Innwa. It was a great and good value trip as the ancient capitals lay outside Mandalay.
Some pretty unique temples and Mandalay hill has great views. Suggest a tour to visit the various artisans and crafts made here (woodwork, puppets, embroidery, jewelry, gold leaf, marble carving, jade, silk weaving). Dee Doke elephant camp is a 50 minute drive from town and great opportunity to get close and personal with elephants in a sanctuary. Very reasonable cost. Dee Doke falls is probably not worth extra 20 minute drive and hike. Myanmar people are very friendly. Myanmar food is not as interesting as Thai food. Tricky to find good restaurants. Palace was a disappointment. Tuk-Tuks are reasonable. negotiate price up front (some bargaining).
The staff was very kind and helpful. I asked for a car charter, but he asked me what time to get to the airport, what else I wanted to go to, and meticulously responded. It is safe because there are some English speaking staff. There was reasonable and comfortable room service, so I was able to spend my time conveniently going out to eat. It was well-cleaned and very clean and comfortable. If I come to Mandalay, I would like to stay at this hotel again.
Nice hotel in the downtown, comfortable rooms, very helpful staff which speaks good English. Location is convenient, only few minutes walking to the Grand Palace wall and short driving from the main points of interests in the city. The breakfast was basic but well enough. Definitely the place to come back in Mandalay!
The food is good and not very expensive. The interior is very nice. Beautiful garden. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Love the bathtub with Jacuzzi.
Perfect breakfast And super staff
